  1. I'll bow out of this one as I'm selling my VR in a few weeks so I think I'll get lynched if I turn up in a non VW (still within the VAG group though )
  2. How much is it over reving by? Did you let the cleaner dry before putting it back on the car?
  3. After a lot of hair pulling my VR is running ok now but it has a strange squeak coming from the right handside of the engine which sounds like i've hidden a cricket/grasshopper some where under the bonnet and its kind off hard to pin point where its coming from. I thought cam chain or tensioner to start with but its not that sort of metallic chain noise . It follows the revs up to a certain point and then disappears but comes back a low revs and you can only here it from outside the car. Other than that the car is running fine?? :S Not overlly noticable but just annoying me! Anyone had anyth
  4. Crikey!! Thats taken a beating!!
  5. Not heard bad things about them but not heard good either! Apex are ok as from past experience they do what it says on the tin so to speak.
  6. Looks good! How come your getting it resprayed looks ok?
  7. Car = 1996 5 Door Golf VR6 Company = Esure Age = 28 Area = St Neots Occupation = Telecommunication Engineer YNC = 5 Points = 0 Modifyed? = Some declared..... Categories = Full Comp Price = £265 Notes = ?
  8. I personally don't think Apex are to bad as they are used by a few companies and then rebranded as there own in house make. I've used them before on my Nissan 200sx S14a and they worked well on that!!
  9. Had the strangets time with my VR last night whilst trying to figure out whats up with it. Not sure if it will help but worth saying. So im out looking at the car in the dark seeing if I can see if there is a fault with the coilpack by looking for sparks and I can see nowt so I procedd to remove spark plugs leads to check the engine labours when removed which it does. So I then decide to take the car for a spin and apart from removing the leads I set the climate control to normal rather econ and low and behold the car is back to normal!!!! Go figure??? *-) *-)
  10. Sounds like you guys are seasoned pro's so I defo better get some practice in........*gulp*
  11. Yea oil temp was showing 90 but I guess i'll keep an eye on it as seems a bit to easy...
  12. yea I'll be up for this,........although is there a prize for being last
  13. OK one of the strangest moments with my VR ever there,,,, Just been out having a look as suggested by dlea and checked the coil pack, no signs of anything, so I procedd to remove the leads and yep the engine labours when removed which is correct so I decide to take the car for a spin and its back to normal?? *-) *-) Guess it must of been a lead thats worked loose or something? The only other thing I have done is to leave the climate control on rather than stciking it to econ but that cant of effected it....could it?? Strange??
  14. Just replaced the leads with a set of magnacors and what would I be looking for on the coil pack? Also forgot to add that the exhaust was poppoing alot when I came off the accelerator.
  15. Not a good day today at all! :-( Thought that as it was a Friday i'd take my VR to work as its a nice 70 mile round trip and she hadn't been used all week. So got to work fine although it felt a little slower than usual but I didn't push her as I was in no rush to get to work. Anyway on the way home when she was nicely warmed up I went to give her a blast with the right foot and rather than pulling like a train like normal the exhaust note just got louder as the revs rose rather than the car accelerating quickly. In short where as when you normally get to 3.5k revs the car would take the mo
