  1. i looked into buying an m3 evo. what shape are you getting e36 or e46? i was looking at a '97 reg and that was awesome but they are soooo tail happy must be real difficult to drive in wet conditions and in ice - forget it. m3 parts are also insanely expensive very expensive car to run!! so i ve gone back to the R32 idea.
  2. more likely to be a perished hose than the pump itself. have you tried taking the plastic off to get a better look?
  3. excellent finally someone can get their own back on theiving scum!! anyone called it yet?
  4. they are a good conversion, i know some one who runs a range rover v8 and the gas conversion has made that a lot cheaper to run. i think they still have to start on petrol then switch over.
  5. mine failed on the rear discs, they were really badly corroded on the inner face. i think the rear bushes on mine are gone as there is a really harsh thud from that area when you go over bad road surfaces.
  6. yeah but 1st doesnt get used that much, only to pull away. 3rd and 4th are used more often and for longer, thats just a general theory tho.
  7. try running some injector cleaner thru, if you havent done so already?
  8. could be a slightly worn gear in the box. if it is then it may not be meshing as well as it could be causing a slight vibration? i think 3rd and 4th are the hardest used gears inside a gearbox?!
  9. i think everyones vr on here uses oil, mine does, its very little bit it uses it.
  10. maybe the oil control ring on the piston(s) is worn, as its not a compression ring it wouldnt show up on a compression test. its quite normal for them to wear and leak slightly.
  11. thought that would be speed related rather than gear related. have you checked if it does it at a certain speed?
  12. the 2.0l gti isnt turbo charged is it i thought that 1 was N/A and the 1.8 gti was turbo charged?
  13. you cant change the big end bearing shells with the engine is situ can you?
  14. the taiming chains are what drive the camshaft off the crankshft and are geared to run the camshaft at half crankshaft speed. the hydraulic tensioner applys tension to the chain to stop it slapping. if its allowed to slap about too much and/or for too long then it could break the chain and everything else that rotates.
  15. 200bhp out of a 2.0l 4pot! why couldnt vw draw that out of a 2.8 V6???? mk3's that is.
  16. more like what hasnt been done!! i dont know thw exact details but to get 580bhp out of a vr every thing tunable has to done!
  17. i ve had yokos before and they were rubbish in the wet. the toyos are really good in the wet aswell as the dry.
  18. im impressed that vw built the vr engine stronger enough to withstand the charging! it wasnt built to be like it, some cars the compression levels have to be lowered and components replaced with stronger items bla bla bla. but the vr, from what i can make out is just plug and play!!
  19. i can get my vr to wheelspin in 3rd in the wet with a standard engine. mind you the tyres are cheap so that dont help. got toyo proxos on the rear and they are fantastic when the fronts wear out im getting toyos for the front! highly recommended.
  20. being an aluminium head its possibl it could have warped. a compression loss through the head gasket wouldnt be significant enough to notice performance wise but it may run smoother.
  21. its been on VAG COM and came out with nothing apart from the buterfly in the throttle body is 10 degrees too far open and they say its because of carbon build up so i will take it off and clean it all up and see what happens.
