  1. point. i ve changed hall sensor and engine speed sensor and its no better. it had better be the isv?! (mines obd1)
  2. mine was really rattly and expected the worse, ie stretched chains broken tensioners worn rails.....but when i stripped it down it was all as good as new apart from the upper guide rail had snapped allowing the chain to go slack unless something has broken, which is unlikely on the ob2 engine, id say you have nothing serious to worry about. and 2 days to change the tensioner bolt?!!! you couldnt drag it out for 2 days if you tried, it is litteraly a 10min job all done!
  3. like wise. been told its a dirty throttle body and isv. got to take it off clean it up then get the throttle reset.
  4. he's much better off with the M3 then a mk5 R32 i'd say.
  5. how many times has this video been posted up?! still very cool tho i smile every time i see it. they got some newer 1s on their "carpi" site i think?
  6. if they are taking only the gearbox out then they aint doing all of it.when they say the hydraulic tensioner i guess they mean the big bolt that goes thru the chain cover? that doesnt necesserily need changing although the acutal tensioner that it pressurises might. what concerns me is you say that rattle hardly notices. my chains are now silent but there is what sounds like a rattle which is infact the injectors. that cant be stopped that is just injector noise and i wonder if thats what they can hear? a "raspy" noise isnt created by chains. a raspy noise is usually associated with an exhaust
  7. im surprised yours needs the chains doing at only 75k miles and being the obd2 engine the valve driving gear is stronger than the obd1. nonetheless i ve recently done my chains it cost
  8. bottom hose on the radiator is a good place to drain from.
  9. all fuel injected cars have a cold start valve. most like the VR just over fuel the injectors when cold and as the engine warms they ease off. other cars have a seperate injector for cold starting. like i say its all part of the injection system so cant really be tested afaik. as nerih said check the isv.
  10. tbh there is no obvious difference between them. it all comes down to personal choice.
  11. no matter what car you will have problems. a friend of mine recently bought a 16 valve corrado bout 4 weeks ago, thinking he got it for a bargain. so far he has had to have a wheel bearing done, a damaged wing, an engine mount broke, the fan packed up and it over heated and now its burst the expansion tank and the thermostat is stuck closed!!!! but he's sticking with the car, if he can im sure you can.
  12. Fuel economy? In a VR6? !dodge !amazed http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?88813
  13. could be because of the drop in fuel economy with the a/c on?
  14. mines an early vr with cloth interior and the screen is no prob to clear. like mk3anni says check for a leak, normal condensation shouldnt be a problem to clear. and yeah a dirty p9ollen filter can cause a problem too.
  15. pipercross do them, they're good. green all so do a panel filter.
  16. i think you will be surprised at how much better the car runs with the standard air box on.
  17. i was in a carpark at the weekend and it was almost empty apart from a mk4 R32 sitting on its own, it looked awesome. i dont think they will ever match the mk4 R32 for looks, never been in one but if it sounds and goes as good as it looks then im sold!!!!!
  18. a guy i work with has an RS4 X reg, he took me out in it and it is awesome, so so fast but the car is so refined that you have no sense of the speed inside the car! mega thirsty tho. its up for sale if anyones got a spare
  19. there is a small hole in the drivers side grill on mine which has nothing in it, i guess thats for the temp sensor? dont remember even seeing wires? were they an optional extra cos my mfa misses the outside temp mode completely. it goes from oil temp straight back to the clock.
  20. what sort of chamois are you using?! i always leather mine off after i wash it, i try to wash it once a week this time of year, never had a problem with the chamois scratching the paint work!
