a while back they did a sprint between a modded pulsar gtir and a dodge viper and the pulsar completly anihlated the dodge! still couldnt beat the sound of a 450bhp V10 tho.
  2. theres a great home for it here mate but a highline as nice as that is worth good money. money i cant afford yet but i would love to have a highline!
  3. yeah privilege dont cover mods for anyone under 25.
  4. you really need to give these guys a try. i just got my renewal through today: im 22 with 5yrs no claims its an annual premium of
  5. id like to help but have no idea how the s/c is set up and if/or it would/could effect the engine in this way???????
  6. kev, could you come to norwich and do an obd1? how much would you charge for doing that? lambda sensor measures oxygen levels in the exhaust and alters them accordingly. camshaft sensor sensors camshaft timing in unison with crankshaft position.(i think) yeah the camshaft sensor is in the upper timing chain cover. behind the coilpack. it works off the rear camshaft sprocket.
  7. big p yours could be crankshaft sensor problem? i know thats cured some peoples idle problems.
  8. a decent low mileage RS2 is hard to come by but if i found i would sell everthing i had to own 1, including the VR! R5 turbos are great fun but headgskets are a nightmare and they have cooling problems-and often die when sitting in traffic because of it!! i used to have a R11 turbo, they share the same engine and that was often going wrong. bags of laughter when running right tho!
  9. that looks the dogs danglies with those wheels on!they really compliment the ride height. im insainely jealous!!!
  10. ouch! i did my chains, tensioners and guides myself i think i spent the best part of
  11. i agree i would rather struggle and get the sump plug out and have peace of mind that all of the old oil was out. theres no substitute for using the sump plug!
  12. too true i nearly sold mine a month or two ago but i decided to keep it and im enjoying it more than i had before. but then again get rid of a car like a VR is no trouble but getting rid of the debt one could get you into could take a long time.
  13. mine could be the isv. i disconnected my battery so i could get the engine out the car. where exactly is the isv? its never actually been explained to me. mine hunted any way so i replaced the crankshaft sensor but its even worse now %-6
  14. water hoses can deteriate, split and then leak. if you replace leaking hoses then you will notice the difference in water consumption. im not too sure what the secondary water pump does tbh
  15. funny, mines exactly the same after i disconnected my battery. mines an obd1.
  16. the oil contamination is probably a slight leak from headgasket or valve guides. does it use much oil? there is some monster funding there but it looks good for it!
  17. worth it?! its definately worth it! if you can get genuine parts at half stealer price.......you do the math i did actually try to find the part number on mine but couldnt really see it, not with the airbox in the way.
  18. if i was in that situation i would try to find out every means possible to keep running costs at a minimum but if its just not possible, having to work extra hours or what ever then personally i would bite the bullet and sell. if its causing a struggle then it takes the fun out of owning such a car.
  19. thats nice i like that. got any more pics?

  21. that link didnt work for me
  22. CHAINS!!! if they havent already been done. possible head rebuild, if its been serviced regularly that shouldnt be so necessary but things like followers will need doing as they will be tired. the bottom end is generally very good on the VR's. but yeah chains. the earlier timing chain system isnt really man enough for the job, which vw beefed up from 95 onwards i think, mines a 94 L reg and i ve just replaced both chains, guide rails and tensioners. 1 of the guide rails had broken causing the chain to slap and thats at 90k miles.
  23. if it is the pulley and the noise appeared after the chains were fitted its mere coinsidence or it could be something related to the chains?
