  1. possible air leak? are all the brackets on the induction system tight?
  2. some cars do have a learning process in the ecu, i dont know if the vr is the same? you'll prob find the manifold has taken away the initial low end torque, cant be serious if the car is fine through the rest of the rev range. i ve recently done chains and tappets on mine and there is no tappet noise now altho it did take a while for the oil pressure to get to 1 or 2 of the tappets causing them to rattle yours maybe taking its time to pressurise as well? are you sure its not the injectors you can hear? mine "tick" which could be mistaken for tappets but thats just injector noise.
  3. long starts when warm can some times be caused by loss of compression ie past the rings etc, but knowing the vr's are strong in that area i doubt that would be a prob. you could always try a compression test to make sure?
  4. wheel bearing poss. try looking at the outer driveshaft boot to see if its split. it could be grit getting into the universal joint and knackering that out.
  5. LOL, great one. i think i can relate to every one of those!
  6. those DTM wheels look great on the corrado!! like that mate. has yours get the electric spoiler?
  7. back on the subject of coRRado's that mystic blue storm im trying to get hold of with the knackered engine has covered over 200k miles!!!!!! any suggestions on how much a 200k mile mystic blue storm would be worth with no engine?????
  8. i have the same prob, had it on vag com and it came out with nothing. although they did say the throttle butterfly is 10 degrees too far open at idle or something? they suggested cleaning the isv but guess you cant do that. the throttle on mine needs setting up to which i dont think helps. it could be the engine speed sensor on yours?
  9. nope nothing needs running in for that, running an engine in is to smooth off all the microscopic imperfections and burrs etc that appear in a piston bore at manufacture and so the cylinder is completely smooth so every thing can settle in. if you're replacing just the rings then a run in period shouldnt be necessary. also when running an engine in you shouldnt put the engine under a lot of load eg towing a caravan or a car etc.
  10. i rebuilt an engine once and was advised to run it in for up to 500 miles.
  11. i ve dropped my vr 30mm all round on springs (it already had uprated shocks) it sits nicely on the rear, wheels just in the arches, but i think it still sits a bit too high on the front and i was wondering if anyone knows where i can get hold of -40mm springs just for the front? cheers in advance.
  12. apparently mines got automatic transmission oil in, why i have no idea?! its a little on the thin side tho.
  13. does the vr have piston liners or are the cylinders cast out of the block?
  14. mine sits about 80 normally but goes up slightly in traffic.
  15. i was always under the impression that it was seperate to the dizzy? do you know if its a bosch item? if so give APD a try on 01603 486020. i got an engine speed sensor from them and their price including VAT was almost half VWs plus VAT price!!!!

i saw it, that car is the ultimate boys toy!!!! hydraulic spoiler c'mon. so its an 8 litre?! not bad. at full speed it burns its 100litre fuel tank in 12 mins!!!! ouch. gota admit that marcos at the beginning of top gear was very nice too. 50-70mph in 2 secs, adequate!!
  17. what is it that takes the 2.8 engine to a 2.9? combustion chambers, bore size, stroke? or all 3?
