  1. i ve got ram-air fitted, looks and sounds great. had it on a rolling sunday-it sounded lush! it was £120 from TSR performance apparently they developed it specificly for the VR.
  2. i think the socket size is 14mm. i managed to change mine with a deep socket, long extension and long nosed pliers.
  3. mine sits at about 1/4 when driving 1/2 way when in traffic but no further. when i had a diagnostic tool plugged in the gauge was reading about 60'c but the diagnostic tool said 80'c odd! i dont expect the gauge to be particually accurate but i thought it would be more accurate than that?
  4. trackman- a ve got a "green" induction kit that a mate of mine fitted to his P reg VR6, but a sensor went faulty and they blamed the induction kit for it. he gave it to me but i dont need it coz i ve got a ram-air 1 fitted. if your interested (or any 1 for that matter) you can have it.
  5. my local garage done it, they've got a hand held one which done just the trick!! it should of cost about £30 but i got it a tenner as its my dads garage (makes life easier!)
  6. i had a diagnostic run on the golf this morning 4 faults appeared! the main 1 was 00532 - supply voltage to high, it was charging at 17.5 volts!!! so i went straight out and bought a new regulator to fit to the alternator hoping this is the root of my trouble. how hard is the alternator to remove?
  7. talking about poor connections the battery was replaced just before i bought the car. doesn't the vr6 have a strange ecu it doesn't have a self learn system or something? when the battery was removed the ecu may not of been reprogramed properly?
  8. mightyvr6, i think they only meant with regard the coil pack. my local garage has a diagnostic tool which should pick up any faults but would it be best to put it on a vag-com any way?
  9. ok. maybe a dumb question but what is the ISV(obd1) and the TB?
  10. ok. maybe a dumb question but what is the ISV(obd1) and the TB?
  11. just tried the water mist on the coil pack and its definately not arcing. i have noticed that it only seems to miss when the car is warm? im stummped. maybe the fault with the lights and the missing are different faults?
  12. i did speak to VW about plugging it into their vag-com but they said all it would say is that theres a miss fire, it wouldn't say what is at fault. there r stacks of solutions to the problem, dont know where to start!
  13. hi i ve got a '94 golf VR6 with the same problem. mine tends to do it regardless of how many RPM's the engines doing, and it makes the head lights flicker 2? i ve changed the leads but was told the plugs were fine, the problem persists. i checked the coil pack for arcing ie spraying a mist of water on it and that seemed to be ok. not sure what to look at next? thought about taking the risk and changing the coil pack any way.
