  1. it's most likely the bearing in the tensioner maybe stripping it and giving it some proper grease might help. looks like u don't have a standard tensioner to me
  2. suppose it is worth a try although i am not convinced. going to do a basic check on monday. check for fuel and a spark and work from their as diognostics did not work as yet. the crank shaft sensor was 82 alone so not so keen to do the camshaft as u may imagine. half hope it is dead to the world cos the bird will be convinced that it is worth 8k to rebuild it as a turbo lol don't u love some women's ignorance
  3. yes pete read that but got the sensor anyway am going to take it back monday anyway. Is it ok to do diognostics with the car running?? Im realy at a loss cos it's the only code that has stayed up after the reset!!
  4. why do people love the look of a Rado i hate them look so out of date where as mk3's at least look 90's not 80's. Don't sell it. My car has been broken for 2 days and im sick of driving the runabout 106 aleady cos it is slow and nobody looks or makes hand signals at me anymore
  5. had a problem with my car refusing to start. did a diognostic check with a snap on diognostic kit and it came up with engine speed sensor. So today i changed the crank shaft sensor to no avail now wondering if i should have changed the cam shaft sensor instead??? also has anybody a MK3 VR6 OBD2 wiring diagram?? need the car asap so any help appreciated

  7. it is a possability starting to get fed up of this crap now could be time for a new car soon hope it's just the sensor
  8. it is the second one that has failed in 6 months surely thay excessive?? iv maybe done 3k at the most. nobody near me with a vr6 which is why i like it. going to check the sensor in the morning got this from another thread To make sure that the sensor has gone can you check the resistance across the sensor. The sensor should be white, and you need to measure across pin 1+2 and you should have a resistance between 480-1000 ohms with the plug disconnected, also check pins 1+3 and 2+3 there should be no continuity or open circuit between these pins. If any of these tests show any thing other than
  9. 2.7 Are there any Fault-Codes that can and should be ignored? Yes. Most 1995 and earlier Bosch ECU's will show you a DTC 00513 - Engine Speed Sensor (G28) if you scan them when the engine is not running. This fault code goes away by itself once you start the engine. If this sensor were truly defective, the engine would not run at all! Please ignore this code. copied from the link and it says if the sensor were defective the car would not run. my car won't run it does not even have a spark and the fuel pump does not prime
  10. your serpentine belts has snapped it powers your alternator water pump and power steering pump. it should only be 20 quid to sort it
  11. hi just carried out a vagcom and this is what my car has come up with. I take this is a crank shaft sensor?? only reason i ask is that i changed a crank shaft sensor in october and wonder has it failed again or could it just be dirty?? or could the marks on the flywheel be damaged/dirty?? is their any set way of checking the sensor to tell if it's a dud or not?? is their any reason why these sensors fail?? the fault code was reset and the engine was turned over again and the code returned so presume it's correct. I HAVE READ THE OTHER THREAD ON THIS ALTHOUGH THEIR SEEMS TO BE CONFUSION BETWEE
