  1. Hi Shail, thanks for the reply. I've had a better look at it this morning in the light and its actually the water pump that has seized and caused the belt to snap! Bugger!!
  2. Cheers for the quick replies Pete and Ciaran, from looking on the thread with the how to, its the next wheel down that has all the melted rubber on it. Sorry I'm a total nube!
  3. I'm sure most of you know what you are looking at but just to make things easier here is a better photo [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1201114485_6727_FT215274_vr6engine2.jpg][/lightbox]
  4. Hi guys, I know hardly anything about engines, I hope somebody can help me here. I was just driving home and the car started making a odd noise, this got worse and worse until about 30 seconds from my house it stopped, and then so did the power steering, lights etc. The belt has snapped and one of the pulley wheels is covered in melted rubber. I've attached a photo as I don't know what it is and how much it is going to be to repair it. I think its the oil pump?? How hard is this to change (whatever it is)? Any info much appreciated, Alex. 5. mmmm very jealous. Love those wheels!! I had to put the wheels on hold as it looks like the clutch is on the way out. I refurbished the standard vr6 wheels myself in black. A real labour of love, but would never do it again!! Once you've started one wheel you have to keep going!!
  6. Hi guys, I've only had my VR about 3 weeks but the last couple of morning have been pretty cold and when I've started the engine, the Tacho just sits at 0rpm. It seems to start working again once the engine is warm. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions? Alex
  7. For those on an even tighter budget, you can get stickers, just take off your old one, clean it up nicely and add apply the new one. There are quite a few people on ebay selling them. A friend of mine did this and they look fine. Just ordered myself a set of four, from Thailand including delivery was under £7. I'll upload a picture when I get them. For the standard 15" VR6 BBS wheels you need 53mm stickers or caps. Ebay link
  8. Hi Guys, great forum, been very useful so far and I've only had my VR6 3 weeks, and yes....I love it!!! I would like to change the wheels as mine are badly corroded, I read a previous thread about wheel size and have decided to go the 16" route. I am trying to save every penny I can and so I'm looking at second hand wheels on ebay. Could somebody who is running 16's please tell me what size tyres you have, as I don't want to buy a set with tyres and then find out they are too big or too small. Thanks in advance, Alex
