    Just ordered 2 pairs of H7's off ebay for £6.99 a pair! Halfords charge £12 per bulb! I did some searching on the net & contacted Awesome GTi to find out - the net pointed me towards a pair of H7's for each unit and Awesome GTi pointed me to hit the delete button on my phone - no reply :0) I think they take the same bulbs as the angel eyes.

    No the bulbs in the OE lights are H1 - the new ones from what I have found out use H7 bulbs - the charts wont be of any use as the headlights arent using the bulbs that VW intended. I think I'll contact a company that sells the FK lights over here as the bulbs arent cheap if I get it wrong!

    I've just fitted my FK Powerlook headlights but need to buy a new set of bulbs as the standard bulbs dont fit - I need H7 fitment bulbs. Does anyone know if I need anything special or will 4 of these suffice? I've got working sidelights and thats all at the mo. Ta!

    Admittedly i didnt have the cheap ones on my Golf I had them on my old car - a Vauxhall Calibra....they lasted about 8 months before one of them just lost the will to lift and when it came down and corner of the bonnet hit my mechanics nose - made a right mess and he got a black eye :0)

    The £20 ones will be the cheap bonnet on your head ones! I got my Bonrath lifters from Awesome GTI and they were about £60 I think but shop around - you might find them cheaper else where.

    Yeah easy job! I've got the Bonrath ones fitted to mine - dont be tempted to buy cheap ones as I found out on my last car they just give up and wont hold the bonnest up and you could find your bonnet coming down on your head :0)

    Ah brilliant! Im gonna get some made up as I can get them done a lot cheaper than buying them through that particular website but their designs have come in handy ;0)

    That'll do nicely - do you reckon the ones at the bottom of that page will be good enough for a graphics shop to make me some up though? I'll post a pic later so you can see where I want to put them. Thanks for the replies!

    I've got my German plates (from Germanplates.com ) and Im now after the 2 round inspection/govermnet stickers that go on real German plates & as I cant buy any I was wondering if anyone had a real German plate that they could scan and email to me so that I could get some inspection/govermnet stickers made up? I already know they wont be road/MOT legal etc etc Thanks in advance! 8)

    Its turned out that its the ABS control unit! Last thing i was expecting - last owner had moved the led/light so it wouldnt show! The solenoid inside is faulty & its causing the EDl to cut in hence not being able to accelerate etc when it does. Would be good if it worked as it should and not cutting in thinking I need to slow down when Im on the outside lane of the motorway! [ Edited Sat Mar 26 2005, 01:31AM ]

    Shouldnt that be that the engine will stall if you try and pull away with the handbrake up? !dodge

    Things like this can sometimes happen when people install ICE and the hot drill bit goes through the top of the tank - not sure if the VR tank is plastic or metal though, dont weld it! Ka Booom!

    I thought I saw something on the FK site about them being switchable (might have dreamt it!) but Im going to fit them & see what there like and if their no good I'll sell them - got them for a really good price though so whoever I sell them to will have a bargain too! (If I sell them) To be honest I forgot I bid on them cos I missed my last train home from work & went out for a 'few' beers and was absolutely smashed so slept at my desk and bid on them at about 2am - next day I got an email to say I'd won!     Cheers - I ordered some FK Powerlook ones off of German ebay & got them for a bargain price too! I'll post some pics when I've fitted them :0)

    yeah I would say it does really, it hesitates when I pull away and I get a pop sometimes from the exhaust and if I rev the car when its cold it runs like crap and I have to let it idle for a bit to sort itself out & on motorways the power just dies and it wont let me rev the engine - sounds like the exhaust is blocked. My ABS light is on now aswell, the last owner tried to hide it and push the LED down on the board so it didnt shine through the plastic! Best bet is to get it on the diagnostics though so you know for sure

    Does anyone know or have a facility to find out the part number of a 1997 Golf VR6 ABS Control Unit? I've been offered a unit off a 1996 16v GTI & want to see if the part numbers match. Ta!

    The problem with mine is the ABS control unit -thats the last thing I thought it would be! It has a kind of traction control built in and cuts the power to the engine for no reason so I need to replace it and it'll be fine. Best off getting it on the diagnostics to try and pin point what the problem is - I thought my prob was gonna be engine related!

    Dont VW recommend that you use 97 Ron fuel? On the inside of my petrol cap theres a sticker that says 97 Ron so I dont put anything less in it.

    Ha I was thinking of changing the front splitter but I've decided to keep now! The splitter grounds so easily, I have to be really careful with it gonna get it repaired/painted when I come back from the ring - it might be coming back in the boot - in pieces! :@ Anyone know how much the kit was to buy when it was new?

    Some of the Jap cars look purposeful and as Silverline says - they can look aggressive & I do like that about them - I looked at a 500Bhp R32 Skyline on Sat - it looked well 'ard! [ Edited Mon Mar 21 2005, 09:07PM ]
