  1. We've not been so lucky up here, if the police don't like your tints, they make you remove them there and then or they deem your car unsafe to drive home, not sure how legal it is but no-one's been brave enough to contest it yet. Scumbags.
  2. I've had mine for about 6 months now, the only thing I've needed to replace is front brake pads and discs and a driveshaft oil seal (although I've not got round to doing that yet). I've spent a stupid amount of money on other bits for it though.
  3. German guy approaches a prostitute. "I vish to buy sex vit you". "OK" says the girl, "I'll charge £80 an hour". "zis is goot, but I must varn you, I am a little kinky". "No problem" she replies cautiously, "I can do a little kinky". So off they go to the girl's flat, where the German produces four large bedsprings and a duck caller. "I vant you to tie ze springs to each of your limbs". The girl finds this most odd, but complies, fastening the springs to her hands and knees. "Now you vill get on your hans und knees" She duly does this, balancing on the springs."You vill please blow zis vi
  4. I had a concept 600, then it started going off while I was driving to work, and went off randomly through the night as well even though I hadn't even activated it. In the end I got someone to rip it out and put in a Toad Ai606 and haven't looked back.
  5. I think Sigma did the standard alarms, but don't quote me on that.

The rear spoiler is a Zender one, that'll be staying though as I quite like it. I'll hopefully get some pics taken this Sunday as we're having a big VW meet up here.

Yeah but they'll be getting binned along with the door strips and the side skirts. If the car looks stupid with the front splitter and everything else removed, the splitter will be getting pulled off too. Hope I don't have to though.

Finally got my coilovers on at long last. Going to get my arches rolled in the near future so I can wind them down even more. Unfortunately you can't see the mirror finish of the wheels well in the pics. http://eastsidevw.co.uk/images/humped1.jpg http://eastsidevw.co.uk/images/humped2.jpg
  9. I've been told a Mk5 Polo rear wiper will go straight on and look good too.
  10. The big one is the one you want, it's called the ProRam, I was £95 from Awesome GTi.
  11. If you want the noise, there's no comparison to the RamAir ProRam filter, the cone is bigger than my head. My Grandad thought the Luftwaffe were coming back to get him when I went roaring past.
  12. It only costs about 4p a litre more, if you put in 40 litres, that's just an extra £1.60. I'm quite happy to pay that knowing my car's running on the best fuel available. [ Edited Wed Mar 16 2005, 08:32PM ]
  13. I'm guessing the prices next to the parts includes the labour charge for each part? But if he's doing the front discs and brakes, then that would surely mean less time taken? Also, £30 to flush and refill the brake fluid? Hmm. I say you go onto the GSF website or ECP and price up how much they're charging for all the parts you got fitted, my guess is that it would be considerably lower. If the garage claims that genuine VAG parts were used as you'd expect at that price, ask to see his purchase invoice.
  14. I was advised against getting a cat bypass by my local VW tuner, bearing in mind I'd have paid him to supply and fit it, I took his advice and didn't bother. I prefer a quiet exhaust anyway, engine note is the most important thing.
  15. I was looking through the folder of receipts I got with my '95 Highline last night and noticed an invoice I didn't pay much attention to at first (I didn't really know much about the engine when I bought the car so it didn't stand out too much) from 2000. The invoice was for a new head gasket, 2 timing chains and a tensioner and a heap of exhaust and inlet valves to get replaced. That seems kinda worrying for a car that was 5 years old and probably hadn't done more than 45,000 miles at the time, and the total of the invoice was £678 including VAT which seems suspiciously cheap. The car drives

Tell them. If I'm not happy about any work that is done on my car, the first thing I do is inform the garage so I can hear their side of it first.
  17. It was an option on all VR6's I think.
  18. Them pipes are awful, don't cheapen your VR by putting inferior quality parts on it.
  19. My mate's car does that. But then again he's got a Supercharger.
  20. Avoid Powerflow, a tailor made system for your car is far better than some monkey knocking you up a "custom" one with low grade stainless steel and shit MIG welds.
  21. As long as the ignition is off, the airbag won't go off.
  22. Did you remember to reconnect the battery?
