cor thats a lot ov work to just take engine out why take subframe out and if he does what about disconnecting steering column from rack which is also connected to subframe . first ov all you want to take front end off of car so you can access engine easier to do this disconnect hoses from radiator and wires to fan and lights and tempsender in rad then unbolt front end ie bumper then bumper bar then rad housing you then have much better access to engine then remove driveshafts exhaust manifold and gear linkage from gearbox also its easier if you unbolt clutch slave complete from box rather than

Not firing on all cylinders

i was going to suggest coilpack you should find that will sort problem but let us know what happens when this has been done if its still not right after that it could well be an injector only takes a bit of crap to slip past fuel filter if filter not been changed for a while and it can block injectoror indeed if the filter is breaking down inside due to being old . -
well it doesnt look like anything ive seen on vr and its black in the pic i can see i thought stainless was silver but i supppose they could have painted it but y. its a bit suspisious in my opinion and defo doesnt look like it goes where they say it should does what they sent you look identical to the pic on ebay cos if so i reckon they have messed up somewhere.

Location, location ...ahhh Fecked if I know!!
kilokilla replied to 28v6r's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
they shoud sit just above fuse box mate on seperate bit ov loom should be literally connected to the top of fuse box but may have come loose from it but they will be up there somewhere. -
to be honest any oil leak is not good new oil cooler is about £30 quid and make sure to get seals aswell cos ive found they dont generally come with it but thats from eurocarparts vw probably different.
-
sorry andy your quite right i was just pointing out that that it wouldnt cause the oil to mix with the water mate wasnt trying to contradict you i should have been a little more specific.
-
firstly thermostat wont cause oil and water mayo mix but oil cooler most defo will and if you get oil water mix it will cause to overheat thirdly easiest way to check for head gasket is a tester that just goes on water bottle and changes colour if gasket knackered.also jay if your breathers arent perfect or your little black valve isnt in good condition on rocker cover it can cause oil not to breathe properly which can cause condensation in oil causing bit of cream in oil cap i find this happens more if car used mainly for short journeys.

I have updated thread for you mate goto mechanical problems and look for (what is my manifold and how do i remove it.

should pull out with fingers mate but if you are all fingers and thumbs he he then tweezers will suffice.

check out these wheels read the description
kilokilla replied to petervr6's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
Pmsl sounds like a bit of an up and down ride to me especially the way hes on about doing it you could get some machined properly by a trained metalworks technician but why when you can get most wheels in the right size and dimensions anyway.lol -
if chains need doing best get all done at same time as both jobs require gearbox removal also which clutch did you have fitted because majority of time judder is down to crap quality clutches id recommend you replace complete clutch kit and as i have said if tensioners are due it will cost more in the long run to have gearbox removed twice. Also it could be clutch making hard to get in gear when cold but more than likely down to oil in box loosing its viscosity so you might want to get that changed too mate.
-
Just make sure you got right tools for that mate cos everything should be quite tight and lots ov people end up rounding off bolts and things using crappy tools.and if you are doing rears you will need a special tool to wind open rear callipers but most good car places can supply one of them for around £20.
-
thermostat is in plastic housing on side of block above gearbox towards front of engine mate.and wter pump is on opposite side of block under auxillery belt tensioner.check water bottle and cap aswell and radiator for leaks aswell also they can leak round thermo housing cos they can break aswell mate.plus oil cooler on bottom front ov engine (square alloy block with big bolt sticking out of frontand 2 little hoses coming out of it).

part number help - is it the egr valve?
kilokilla replied to B6MFD's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
yes that bit is valve mate comes complete with bit of hose that connects it to rocker cover all in 1 piece -
oil cooler is square ally piece with big bolt out of front and 2 little hoses off it and if rad fan cutting in that early you prob find temp sender in rad needs replacing but could be moody gauge id go with temp sensor in rad first though
-
i agree they are getting a bit older and people believe they too old to be reliable but in my opinion as long as you look after them they will go on for a lot longer than the more modern substitutes.
-
that sounds like a really dead bearing mate jack car up and spin wheel if its that bad it should still sound rough as feck and there should be play in it and id advise getting it sorted P D Q cos you could end up knocking other bits out around it and no it doesnt sound like cv to me mate they rattle not hum.

part number help - is it the egr valve?
kilokilla replied to B6MFD's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
lol if you look carefully at the pic you will see that he has wrapped tape around the oil breather mate or rocker cover vent whatever the precise name for it is.and thats the part i have given the ford part number for. -
Well said Phm i couldnt agree with you more on that 1.
-
yes id suggest getting someone in the know to have a check on it before forking out loads on rebuild mate aswell.
-
mmm well i dont know what else to suggest mate sounds like its knackered you can try to get doorcard off and see if anything is jamming but this generally leads to ruining doorcard you should be able to get it open if you can get inside door but theres no guarantees mate sorry i cant help more but you are a bit far away from me or i would suggest you come and see me cos im sure i could get round it if i had a look at it .
