  1. you could find you need correct engine loom to go with the other bits you have bought and maf aswell but you could find that the reason your car is not running is down to something else other than these parts what went wrong for you to want to change these parts mate.
  2. only the gti/gti16v/and vr6 are 5 stud in mk3s all smaller engined mk3s are 4 stud.
  3. lol all my prices are reasonable compared with my competitors he he he.
  4. no probs mate try checking your wishbone is ok if its had a knock to wheel it can bend this and this will cause wheel to sit back in arch or if bushes are knackered it can also cause it to sit back a bit
  5. yes mate it will probably be the reverse light switch its a 2pin plug on front of gearbox at top might have come unplugged or wires sometimes snap but generally they just give up working.
  6. i agree any slip would suggest clutch is on its way out your problem sounds like its the pressure plate is failing rather than actual clutch plate but you get all parts in clutch kit so id advise getting new clutch kit fitted mate.
  7. Firstly if you mean a vic check mate then all they check is the chassis numbers and engine numbers match what they have recorded, your m.o.t should cover the rack but you should need m.o.t before v.i.c check unless you already have a current m.o.t in which case you dont need to worry about rack for vic secondly i have a complete second hand rack i have just removed from a 1995 vr i can sell you for £40.
  8. Defo sounds like a loose wire mate also ignition module i.e starter switch on back of ignition can cause this prob and i had 1 vr that had a fault in red and yellow wire that goes to ecu just up in bulkhead by ecu that caused this problem all lights and that still worked but wire was earthing out now and again and shutting car down but i would check all alarm and immobiliser wires around ignition before looking elsewhere as this is generally culprit for this sort of behaviour.
  9. should think you can get reconditioned but not sure as for my alternative just buy non aircon auxillery belt and unbolt pump and remove and fit new belt however you will need to find some way of securing aircon pipes if you plan on refitting another pump last 1 i did i just removed the complete system pipes and pump and aircon rad.
  10. I like to disconnect battery before disconnecting air bag just in case (dont want it going off in face )then just unplug the connector directly from back of airbag.it will pull off by hand.
  11. On the last vr i removed air con from i just removed the pump and got a non aircon auxillery belt simple as that i didnt have to fit any other parts whatsoever just the different belt.
  12. im not sure of actual part numbers mate but if thats the later uprated item then yes you can and would be a better option for you aswell as they are stronger and more reliable.
  13. if head gasket does need changing it would be better to just do that however to change the engine just swap over all the bits that look different and use all the ob2 items but while you are doing that you also want to check the top timing chain tensioner is not warn because the earlier spec tensioners are not as good as the later 1s as i said though id advise just sorting the gasket myself as you still have a good engine you can sell then.
  14. lol alright mate pop down and il have a look at it for ya mate
  15. oh also i specialise in vr6 work mate and have loads of spares as i break them aswell.

  17. the intermediate shaft indeed does drive the oil pump and it also connects bottom and top chains together i would advise you not to drive car if or even start it if there is a problem with this because you will kill engine i had 1 where the bolt came loose on this shaft and it bent 8 out of 12 valves.you need to get this sorted asap but shaft is not visible so i take it you can hear noise and not see anything.its located along back of block and pulleys for it are behind chain covers.
  18. wow dudes im not gonna be able to go work today now cos i wont be able to get my head in car its got so big thanks for the great comments chaps.
  19. Oh i just thought try checkin dust shields behind brakes if 1 of these is a bit loose or close to brakes it could cause this sort of noise although not from area you are describing but some noises can be decieving as to where they are coming from.
  20. sounds bizarre mate but you could try checking the heat shield that sits above the exhaust isnt coming a bit loose as this makes a noise a bit like what you are saying im working on a couple at mo so i will check underneath and see if i can see anything else that might cause this sort of prob ,are your engine mounts good cos im thinking maybe its something to do with a bit of engine movement under breaking .
  21. Ive fitted g-max to quite a few cars now and found them to be extremely good value and ride but i only once fitted a g-max to a vr6 golf and found it was nowhere near as good as on the smaller engined cars such as 16vs and personally id go with something a bit better for vrs in future myself but thats just my opinion.
  22. Sanky you will have no noise when done i have not long done eat this`s vr and like he said it is well sweet now and sounds like new mate.
  23. you should be able to get raceland ones ror under £50 try ringing Dan at Rennsport you can reach him on 08451 086 299 he has just aquired an account with raceland and his very reasonable with his prices and will do mail order . PS.He is quite busy so leave a message on his answerphone if he doesnt answer and he will get back to you.
  24. yes mate raceland also has lambda hole its just an unbolt and bolt on job however generally bolts rust right up and dont want to undo so you may find you need to grind them off and i would use new nuts and bolts to fit new decat pipe mate.
