  1. take em back.get some black BREMI leads that take the VW tool for about 50quid from any local vw specialist.some on here go to dealer and spend 20quid a lead from the stealer.
  2. i had a mk1 gti years ago and got pulled and had an expired mot.got on the blower straight away to my local garage and explained my predicament.they said we will book it in for tomorrow and don't worry.no fine,but the fuzz did check up about my booking.
  3. if not plugs connected properly to leads,maybe ISV clean,hall sender,crank positoin sensor.worthwhile going all round the enginebay/fusebox checking and cleaning all connections.
  4. on my 94M i have a tilt and slide glass sunroof that is electrically operated.
  5. belt tensioner bearings,fuel pumps,water pumps,coilpacks tend to fail as well.
  6. had exact same symptoms and turned out to be the starter.new starter at 90quid fitted solved it.
  7. put a bolt in the belt tensioner bearing,thus releasing the tension on the belt[there is a marker with an arrow on the housing of the belt tensioner].if it still whistles chances are its something else.to check the state of the water pump look down on the pulley for the water pump to see if it is spinning true.prod a small/slender stick at the water pump pulley while the engine is running,if its easily moved chances the bearings in the pump are breaking down.
  8. 167 fuel pump relay,109 voltage stabiliser relay.take the fuel pump infeed out and with the igtn on crank the engine the pump should pump fuel .if not its not getting power[elect/relay]or pump not working.
  9. if u wiggle your key in the ignition very slowly does the abs light go out?do this while the heater/lights is on.if the heater and the lights work while your wiggling the key the chances the ignition switch is fucked.
  10. if the plugs,leads are ok i'd check and clean the hall sender first.then have it code read.this is the tight git route as the coilpack is 150-200quid touch.

    in my experience some bmw drivers think thier car is the ultimate driving machine.would leave 94L onward M3's alone.everything else is fair game,325,328,330,730,735 all tried and failed to out accelerate my standard 94 vr.
  12. R32 looks well,and probably goes well.in my opinion you get a lot more car for your wedge going the scooby,evo,skyline route.the down side being fuel consumption.is the R32 good on fuel?does it want servicing as regular as an evo?
  13. around 8quid each for the centres.got some from dealer when i had mine refurbed.
  14. nick,had same problem.fitted new c/pack,leads,plugs,167 relay-voltage stabiliser relay.the biggest differance came when stripped and cleaned hall sender-now cured.

    tried HIC with a standard 94M 3dr.7 yrs NCB and clean licence 33yr old-469quid.ended up going with privilege f/comp 396.not bad?
  17. took the dash to bits,and it was the bulbs.the 2 that light the display at the top,in the back of the dash cluster.
  18. dash lights on the speedo/rev counter/gauges flicker and work intermittently.today they do not work at all.decided to investigate:1-cleaned all connections from light switches to dash unit-still not working!should 2 new bulbs in the top part of the dash unit fix the problem[hard to tell if the bulbs are broke or not.cheers in advice fellas.
  19. ok,a story about a bit of a burn with a AUDI A4 1.8T QUATTRO 04 reg.i believe 190bhp. came off the m-way and rolled onto 10 miles of straight duel carriageway with traffic lights dotted every couple of miles.rolled up to some lights on a fine sunny,dry day.some smug looking f***er pulled up alongside in his 20grand motor.so i thought 'come on lets ave it!'lights changed nailed some revs on set off.thought well he's gunner smoke me on set off?not the case!neck and neck allway upto redline in 1st[35/40mph].notched up to 2nd upto redline and pulled ahead 2car lengths.thought he would have had a f
  20. do are vrs need 50k plus on them to run in/loosen up?
  21. the hall sender has 2 'O' ring seals around it.one slim and one slightly thicker.ive come to the conclusion mine might have not been plugged in properly/needed a clean.but the results are still the same-FAB!
  22. got some black BREMI leads-seem to do the job.had splitfires-never seemed to mate properly to the plugs,always arcing,so i binned them.

BAZ780;after you take the single allen bolt out.work the hall sender out slowly.you'll be looking at a small stubby cylindrical sensor with 2 'O' rings around it.i cleaned all oil/gunk deposits off it until spotless.re-inserted and refitted everything else back in place.its now a different car.hope you have the same success as me BAZ780!
