if i had not bought a s/c mk3,i would have considered a focus rs.the vw equivalent is an R32,overpriced/heavy-but begging for a charger!just my 2 penneth.
looks like petesvw has nominated himself as THE NORTH OF THE WATFORD GAP REGIONAL CO-ORDINATOR.please forward ALL your meet requirements to him! !lol . i would be up for a meet.come on pete, smarten summat up.
you need top stoppers with a charger on,eh kev? big brakes=big bucks.dont even want to think about the cost of replacing the 305mm TAROX grooved 6pots,700big ones!but they are the business in all conditions.when you stomp hard on them you expect the landing gear to unfold beneath you. !amazed .LOL
am sure the charger boys will testify, pulls to the redline progressively.not waiting for that big dollop of power when the turbo comes on boost.usually changing up while the turbo is boosting and gone!LOL. 8) . cannot stress enough how good the racelogic t/c is.helps put all the ponies down with some decent rubber.tried the launch control yesterday-OMFG!grip and go is the way forward.
i remember MINTY passing comment he used to waste R32S.with similar spec.milsy has this vr now. you nameit zonda my vr has it,anoraks old bus.2.9-v2 blower,BVH,248 CAMS-shrick vsr.large throttle bodies.aquamist,t/c.eibach arbs, koni coilovers.303bhp/278torque. will keep u posted when we get it on!
a cheaper way round the uprated drivetrain would be a standard box mated to uprated clutch[recommend helix]with racelogic t/c.vince is the man to chat to.
if a scooby sti[o4] cannot live with me down a 2 mile bypass stretch[left it for dead!].i cannot see an R32 keeping up?LOL.when i got to the roundabout at the bottom of the bypass[slowed right down for him to catch up].he wouldn't come alongside so i could laugh at him, knowing an 11yr old golf just kicked his arse!get the impression if you drive a scooby you think you're untouchable in the speed stakes?
it REALLY does transform a vr-power/torque,but the down side is spending money on brakes, suspension, coilovers.fuel consumption is a factor aswell:20ish mpg when enthusiastic/ uptu 35 when not. you earns your money and spends it on what YOU want!
you only get spin with the racelogic t/c in 1st in the wet.as sparkz says- it is unbelieveable[but never used the launch from the lightsLOL].TOTALLY tractable in ALL gears regaurdless of the conditions.speaking from experiencs it is an untrue statement that a front wheel drive car cannot handle 250bhp+,eh sparkz?maybe someone should contact clarkson,he's not big on being proved wrong?
wouldn't need to to mess about with fighting torque to front wheels if you had racelogic t/c.it also has launch control.contact vince at stealth racing.have this system fitted to a mk3 s/c golf.it really DOES work mated to a manual box.
i have the copper head gasket fitted to my s/c mk3 golf.running a v2 blower at 8.5psi.the head is sealed with RACETEC arp bolts.stealth did all the mods for previous owners.seal is not 100%,say about 95%.no issues with oil loss.i believe the head is wire ringed for the gasket and head to bite together.got to have copper/stacked gaskets to lower compression as when the piston is in the up position it would clash with the valve. if i were you contact vince at stealth, friendly guy-supply parts and info required.
got similar engine spec to you dub25.does those rolled arches cure srubbing of outer edge of tyres?or do you wind the coilover shox/springs down.or is it torque to the front wheels wearing the tyres?assuming they are 17s?
did not buzz on the old standard golf, but does on the s/c one?it runs ok-so not worried.most noticeable noise is the aux. water pump.seems more like a rumble on mine?might be the pressure reg. building up for the shrick?
if it aint broke dont fix it,but try a relay first/filter.i paid 30quid for a sec hand one for my old vr[pump].must be off a vr though or you will get lean issues.
got 267 at the wheels.if you multiply this by the last stealth run [17% tranny loss] it makes 312 at the fly.seems more plausable than the 285,287,375,399 fly figures at awesome?think i need to attend the next vroc rr at stealth?
after he turned the t/c off.,yes-nice,smooth and uniform, but a truely mixed bag of flywheel figures?WTF?NEVER misses a beat on the road, power delivery spot on.tester1 said 'very healthy engine'.tester2 said'spiked' flywheel figures?gunner get a second opinion on tried and tested rollers.
