in my experinces a VR should cream a A3T.1st 2nd pretty even, but soon as you hit 3rd a significant gap should occur.keep going and the gap will keep on increasing.its the same thing with STI scoobys when you're charged, but the gap is much more obvious if its nose tapping time!lol.
had a vr with standard suspension-poor handling.got one with koni coilovers, eibach roll bars and VT mounts.ride is rock solid.comfy and yet direct with NO pitch and roll.
fair comment,it comes down to cold harsh cash every time!but to quote kevhaywire,if you're going to spend the money, spend it once and on the right kit or you will regret it.he was giving his views on uprated suspension.
disagree vr monster.anoraks old motor came with tarox 305mm 6pots on front, and standard disks on back with tarox pads.as seadmon says landing gear /stops like a bitch job, should make a VRT stop in its tracks.
looks like fooked drivers side wheel bearing.although there is no play in wheel when jacked up.asked my local trusted mechanic to investigate when he services it next week.i would go to stealth, but its a 2 hour/150mile journey. nerih are you running standard brakes and suspension?anorak tells me the last rr at steath made 303bhp and 278lb/ft of torque, but as you know the power surge of a s/c is relentless.have not looked at the ps/h about the box being lsd or not but carnt recommend the race logic set up enough[should av replied to this in C2 thread?].
vortec v2 SQ,nerih.makes the sound when coasting[clutch disengaged].think i need to inspect the difs-pins/bolted?or is it just normal running sounds because of the mods?STEALTH put the whole thing together so workmanship isn't a factor!
all across the rev range getting a noise like wheel bearings failing/need nipping up?no play in any of the bearing when jacking up wheel and moving side to side/up and down?6 speed box rebuilt at STEALTH 40k ago[now 90k].any suggestions?thought maybe bonrath air intake/milltek system resonating noise.box doesn't whine.some of thewheel arch shrouding is missing to feed the charger with cold air?box low on oil?diffs whining? cheers in advance.
have a full milltek with high flow cat on a .golf s/c.only noisy when above 4000rpm.doesn't seem detrimental to performance.the sound of a charger on full chant with a deep burbling rumble is pretty addictive though!
a standard vr will keep pace with a 4motion[from experience].if you've got disposable cash fit a s/c,a big hike in performance.more money well spent than the schrick alone. or fit both if you have the suspension and brakes sorted.3k for a s/c-250+ bhp or schrick 210bhp?
just wondering if shrick gaskets are reusable.what plugs to use for a s/c golf[2.9]?could someone please let me know part no.,price,supplier.thanks in advance.
nerih;8.5psi pulley, dont know the compression ratio without delving into the mountain of SH.seaping a bit of oil @ the s/c side of head gasket,so want a 100% remedy.vince at stealth says not much of an issue.vortex/nsracing say sandwiched gaskets the answer-big bucks?sourcing a 100% remedy from a reputable company?
i would bet if you remove your cowling from behind the steering wheel, the 5/6 wires that plug in to the back of the indicator stalk are at fault.probably the yellow one is split/broke/not connecting?disconnect battery live and fix.had same symptoms.
racelogic traction control is a quality bit of kit, lets you get the power down in all conditions. V2 charger isn't that noisy on tickover, but is when its 'whistling dixie'.
thanks for the positive feedback guys.just getting aquainted to the sheer power of the thing!one thing that has surprised is that fuel MPG is not much worse than a standard vr.tend to cruise rather than thrash,as any s/c owner will tell you-you aint got nothin to prove unless the mood takes you.need to junk the copper head gasket for a better sealing set up,anbody recommend somebody in the S/Yorks area?
got to say thankyou very much to mark for selling me his s/c golf. the car is 'EXTREMELY' rapid to say the least.a pristine example.thaks for having an understanding attitude from viewing to purchasing.a big up to ya! cheers ade.
