  1. My dad has always had cars that had something special about them. I wasn't very old but Some I was old enough to remember. A few that come to mind are a Datsun that had a rover v8 under the bonnet, mk1 golf gti and an early Bmw 325i sport.. He had taken me out in all of them. However one day he pulled on the drive in a different car I remember him telling me to come look. He told me it was the latest vw golf he told me is was the 2.8 vr6 highline . I was too young to understand what that ment but he seemed more excited about this car than any others I remember. I instantly fell in love wit

    Love at first sight

My dad used to be service and after sales manger of a dealership called stapelys in Rhyl, he used to travel from wrexham each day until they closed it and built a B&Q instead. He was always coming home with different company cars, from audi 80 quattros and mk2 big bumper Gti's in the early 90s and I remember him pointing out the "new" mk3 and me asking him what the badge on the front was because it wasn't a gti. And so the love affair with VW began.

  5. Bit of a milestone for the car yesterday, I finished fitting the subframe, crossmember and suspension and towed it back up the garden to its new "home" a 3mx6m car port. But before I tucked it away I gave it a good wash

  7. So here is Novembers feature car. This is a personal favourite of mine and a true inspiration. The attention to detail on this car is unreal. It's latest makeover is somewhat controversial with the diehard fans but here at the VR6OC, we love it for its brashness and how much Dougie dared to be different. You will see from the spec list below that it's not just a show car but has all the credentials for the speed check list. Here are some answers from the man himself. The person behind the car. Sfs hoses

Definitely want a set of these though probably just the water hoses, though I think Bealieboy might want an induction hose so shouldn't be a problem. [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. How much did you pay for the visors Cabbs? Bargain or not?! Wanna see a pic of them in I keep thinking about buying a set, though I'm not paying the scene tax on the matching black interior light sun roof switch though[emoji3], ridiculous what they go for!!! Looks like the supercharger might be off, hopefully being swapped for most of a turbo set up[emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]!! After spending some time with a friend of a friend who's just finished his mk2 Vr turbo sleeper, but mostly because of driving through the A1M Hatfield Galleria tunnel with him and the screamer pipe[emoji15] I'm sold

Can't comment on 2.8 fault lights but I have heard the 3.2s throw faults when they stretch, it does make sense really considering the timing is being altered beyond the control of ignition timing. Later 6cyl engines like the r32 can hav timing checked on vagcom using electronic measuring blocks which is a good indication of chain wear.

Same for me really, I've had my vr a year now and the only thing I'd swap it in for is a final edition Audi 80 cab which wouldn't have the same performance as the golf.....so I keep the golf and wish I could have both! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I could of probably had one years ago but I went through a bmw phase and had a few M3's and various other beemers then one of car dealer mates took a hot chilli 5dr vr in part ex and that reminded me of the sound and it was about a year after I seen the hot chilli red 3dr I've had for 3yrs now. And I ain't going anywhere. My 5yr old daughter said it's her golf vr6 so I've set a target to try and keep it till she's old enough to drive [emoji37] . Bearing in mind I only ever used to tax a car once makes this a struggle. To be honest I think it's the only car I've ever really wanted to keep

  18. Deffo overfilling then! Things like MAF, blue temp sensor, lambda could cause these symptoms, you say it's dizzy, have you checked the ignition timing? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have a couple of mate one of them works in w vag breakers yard near where I live and he built a 6n polo vr6 and a couple of mk2 vr6's and when I first heard his polo on the road I wanted one. That was also in the mid 90's. I couldn't afford one back then but I eventually got one

Years ago my cousin bought a mk2 black what I thought was a gti. Took me for drive in it and floored it the power and the noise was incredible and I fell in love with the car was gutted when he sold it. Then 2 year ago decided I needed a project car as never done one and could finally afford it. Went to Pickering car show with the other half stood talking to a mate when all of a sudden a mk3 vr6 starts up and start revving I knew there and then I had to have one.

My first sight of the VR6 was notorious! I live in Bradford, West Yorkshire and it has always been a place where you will find the criminal fraternity flourishing. There was this one particular commodity trader who owned a Mulberry High Line. This was the mid 1990's so the VR6 was a real talked about machine and everyone was talking about this guys 'wicked' car. One day me and my pals were just out walking and we heard this thunder, looked back and there it was tearing up the road and wooshed right by. That was it. I fell in deep lust for that shaped car. Never left me, never will! Sent from

  23. Engine is back in the bay now. Woohoo! Took a bit of work and I am glad I had 2 extra pairs of hands helping me. I had to unbolt the turbo to make it easier as the engine was not level on the hoist. Driveshaft's are connected up. Back at it tonight to get it completed as soon as possible as I have booked myself in for a remap at Stealth on the 23rd December. Oh yea I wrapped my downpipe also...
