  1. Strange that I can never find a coat hanger when I need one lol Lol cheers bealieboy, but I can now see why people are turboing vr's and if you don't want to or haven't got facilities to do it yourself then I would recommend stealths kit. I haven't driven it since the weekend what with work.. Can't wait to get in it again. Will try and get some pictures up sat.
  2. Iv had an exciting week. It's back. Had a call from stealth last Friday to say it's ready. I rushed down and picked it up on the sat. When I got there Vince and John showed me around the car explaining what had been done.. The install looks great. As close to factory looking as you will get. You can tell a lot of time, effort and attention to detail has gone into the kit. The intercooler and pipe work are very stealthy. Vince started it up and the car settled into a perfect idle, the custom exhaust note suggests that there is something special about the car but isn't too loud or shouty.
  3. glad u thought so, was watching and thought might be interesting for people thinking of going forced.
  4. For people who are struggling to decide what's best for them..
  5. I'm coming in my brothers polo 6n and going on rollers. It is a vw though at least lol.
  6. Hi fishwick just read your build start to finish.. Brill... Love some of the ideas you put into action. I don't think I could have brought myself to part with it.. Are you still building projects? Or doing anything interesting at the mo?
  7. It will be worth it to meet the fellow members, visit stealth, and listen to the gates of hell open up on the rollers .
  8. With the failed transfer box you may have been getting front wheels spinning and no rear end locking / bouncing because no drive was being sent to the rear diff at all? Now that you have got drive down the prop to the rear wheels this haldex fault has shown?? Not sure?
  9. pulling the fuse out will throw that code up, however as you said the fault was their prior to pulling the fuse then it may be some help.... Basically that fault it saying there is no communication with the Haldex controller. By all means try a haldex service, worth a shot. but I would be surprised if it works. Seems like your fault it electrical. There are a few common things to check. The connection at the plug that connects to the AWD controller is prone for water and dirt Ingress. Disconnect the pulg from controller and clean the connections on the plug and the pins on the controller with
  10. http://balancemotorsport.co.uk/dump-valves Some interesting stuff on there may help
  11. I got the oppertunity to take an edition 30 out for a spin at work a few weeks back. This was completely standard. I wasn't overly impressed. It didn't feel very torquey until you got the revs built right up and on boost. Then it went well. It drove just like a tdi..The power delivery seemed very boring, the engine was very quiet with no real excitement about it... I would prefer a totally standard vr6 compared to one...... Just wasn't for me.
  12. It's upto u really, can try sealer... Was it a genuine sump gasket or aftermarket? Iv had multiple aftermarket rubber gaskets leak on rocker covers etc in the past.. Brought genuine ones in the end.. No more leaks... The quality of rubber on genuine gaskets is much better.. Plus they are usually the right shape to start with too.. Which tends to help lol.
  13. Sorry I read sausage egg n muff n got excited.. Lmfao.. Looking forward to march 1st hopefully have my vr back by then
  14. No running the car with fuse 31 out will not cause any problems. Except traction loss as expected and the annoying warning light on the dash. My dads golf started doing this suddenly. Was fine one day, locking up the next... Strange yours was ok prior to the work being carried out? Could you have missed it? and this being the cause for the transfer box failure? Unusual for one of those to just fall to bits? We get no fault codes on vag com, as far as all associated ecus are concerned there are no faults.. We have serviced the haldex diff, replaced the Haldex controller twice which are prone
  15. My dad is currently suffering the exact same problem with his r32, we are still trying to resolve it. It sounds to me like the rear diff (Haldex unit) is locked in or constantly engaging. It is designed to only engage the rear wheels if you are loosing traction during hard acceleration for example then at slow speeds or normal driving should revert to front wheel drive only. With the rear wheels constantly engaged at slow speeds turning or on full lock it causes the transmission to wind up like a spring because the rear diff is not designed to allow the rear wheels to turn independ
  16. Try Adrian flux, they specialise in performance cars and young drivers, you are going to find it very difficult to insure a vr at your age though unless you willing to pay stupid amounts. I had to wait till I was 23 with 5years no clams before the price came down to something reasonable.
