  1. I have spent the whole b/h weekend on my new vehicle, lots of grinding, de-undersealing, welding etc, and lets just say its coming together nicely! Next weekend i will be doing the same, which hopefully would make it a rolling shell.... SHAMONE MUTHER TRUCKER!
  2. I think thats going to need more than a welder mate! Maybe a big sledge hammer?! Thinking about it, i might have that section off of my old mk3 if you want it?
  3. You should be able to plumb the gauge onto the brake servo vac line, onto the nipple furthest from the brake servo. The oil temp sender is on the back left on top of the oil filter housing. Or you could use the original vw wiring, and find which wire comes from the sender to the clocks, as i did on my car. Saves running extra cable that way.
  4. Oh yeah, and a third just to makes sure! (i've had a long day, leave me alone LOL!)
  5. How can you tell that from that picture? I wouldn't have a clue! Tidy job, as always mate, have you tested it? Can you hear it in the car?
  6. Just ask tonyvrsc an jim potter what 400bhp does to a standard transmisson!
  7. Perfect turbo for the vr! Have you got any closer pictures of your exhaust manifold? Looks like your using the vr headers... Have you thought about any transmission upgrades to cope with the extra power/torque?
  8. Well it sounds ok, but like i said, just turn it over to double check, without the plugs in.
  9. Should be tight on the none tensioned side, the guide side, and slack on the tensoiner side, until the tensioner is screwed into take up the slack. I'd allways wind the engine over by hand after to re-check the timing.
  10. Why not get your current turbo re-built? Or diy? Nice project btw! Vrt ftw!
  11. I do like the Alpine gear, more so then some of the other kac you get out there. And i bet there's a place you haven't cleaned on your car yet! I put £10 on it!!
  12. Your original a/r should be fine for that rpm. Check out the DIY turbo thread, its a good read with plenty of advise.
  13. Have you released the brake shoes? There should be an adjuster that will need to be slackened off so that the drum slides over easily. You might have damaged the shoes by 'beating' it on!
  14. How come your going to swap all the parts over? It looks clean enough. I take it a track slag isn't your cup-o-t?
  15. How come? Did the chain slip or did it have another problem?
  16. I wouldn't bother with the rrfpr, if your going to get it mapped. Ebay manifolds aren't the best quality and may crack with the heat over time. You'll need a downpipe and boost pipes fabricating. Is the turbo internally wastegated or will you need an external wastegate? If you want the turbo to kick in later, get it with a bigger a/r, e.g 1.0. You may want to consider arp hardware for your engine too, head bolts and/or rod bolts. What sort of condition is your engine in? Mileage? Lots to think about fella!
  17. There's a fella on here running 1 on his vr turbo caddy, can't remember his user name though!
  18. Looking good mate, is that the 044 bosch pump? And where are you mounting it? Will you be using a remote relay?
  19. You do own a very tidy vr mate! Was great to speak to you last night, looking forward to meeting you at the next local meet.
  20. I pitty the fool... All will be revealed in good time, just let me get to grips with it first!!
  21. Sounds like there is air in the system, i think the abs pump will need bleeding via vag-com, and possibly re-bleeding the whole system again.
