  1. Because in my own experience it's a proven formula, with different variables on different FI'd VR6's
  2. I have always gapped any I have done, including those on my current 24v, other turbo 12v's and supercharged even if they're only running 8psi or so
  3. BKR7E and gap them 0.022"
  4. Why would you want uprated ones? OEM ones are more than adequate, especially the new versions of them. Do MSD make 24v COP's? Haven't heard of anyone using them?
  5. Not sure which 997 calipers you have but in terms of Porsche calipers what fits are the Boxster, Boxster S/Carrera 2/4 non turbo and Cayenne 17 L/RZ will fit behind 17's. you can run either 312 or 323 mm discs with the Boxster and Carrera ones but will need 332mm R32 discs for the Cayenne ones. After that you can run 996 turbo or Cayenne 18 L/RZ but you will need 18" wheels which are too big for a mk3 unless they're about 7" wide max and make the car pretty crap to drive. I have Carrera 2 non turbo calipers with LCR 323mm discs on mine, have removed the abs and controlling bias with an inline
  6. I ha contemplated using this on my setup but at the price of it I thought I would try other alternatives first as it is pretty expensive. You have to buy the flush too so that the system is completely flushed of water. I guess if your cooling system was borderline efficient it would be a good job, downside is if you burst a hose or develop a major leak. Personally I used some Millers water wetter and it seems to work fine, couple that with low temp thermostat and fan switch plus decent oil and an external oil cooler I have found no need for anything else, regardless of sitting in traffic or
  7. This is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better!!!!
  8. Lol, you wish Michael!! Cheers buddy
  9. That is sad...also sad to see how those dickheads find it so funny
  10. Not the best at updating build threads, have a whole lot of writing and uploading to do but here's some pics of mine since it made it back out onto the road.. 24v BDE turbo, built motor, UM Promaf 870 tune, 02M transmission, shaved bay.. I have never had so much fun in this car until now even though its only boosting 12.5psi at the minute. Gonna turn the boost up soon, especially after having suspension all set up properly that I can now drive the absolute stones off it :D Videos soon once I borrow my mate's GoPro
  11. Awesome, learn something every day! Will look out for the mk2 also
  12. The rear strut design with Rayvern has the wrong geometry, it relies too much on the shock with not enough resistance for the rear end squat that a car with a bit of hp has. Think the likes of Airlift is better and those Chapman ones look better too.
  13. Not a fan of the wheels mate but live the rest of the car! You going to the SVag show in July? I'll be there, wouldn't mind a wee nosey round this
  14. Very good write up! I had a Rayvern setup on mine but glad I went back to coilovers tbh
  15. Matt from UM reckons he knows exactly what's wrong, just have to test the theory first...seems like pressure plate isn't fully releasing so might have a couple of mm machined off the mounting face of the flywheel to compensate if this is proved to be the case.
  16. I run UM Promaf software with my BDE with 870cc injectors, Promaf (obviously), Precision JB 6766 0.96AR with a Pagparts exhaust manifold and standard inlet. Haven't had it dyno'd yet but my guess is somewhere in the 400's bhp at 12.5psi, runs like a dream and has more than enough to completely annihilate my mate's C5 RS6
  17. It will only work if you are putting it onto an OBD1 engine unless you are lucky enough to find a 2.9 OBD2 mk3 Syncro.
  18. I run a 195/40 17 on my 8x17" Porsche wheels and handling is not affected whatsoever but I have uprated suspension components throughout the car however. I also run the car pretty low and it handles really good. 185/35 tyre is too rash, has no give in it at all, stick to a 195/40.
  19. In saying that ^ though that is actually how it is in the new link Pete?
  20. Might be best if i explain it in pictures? Here's a screenshot of what happens on GTINI for example, this applies to both new posts since last visit or new posts on last 24hrs Notice how it only displays the topics that have been replied to regardless of how may replies each topic has had? ...As opposed to every single post being listed. Does that make any more sense?
  21. All you need is a decent tap and a tap wrench Not the best quality but give you an idea of what you're looking for - http://bit.ly/14nJbCK
  22. Stud size is M8x30 so once you have the old stud out, rethread using an M8 tap
