mine turns 2 way's, left way's and right way's. what do you mean back pressure is a myth and your car does not need it? someone tell me if im right here please. in the 15 yrs i been playing with car's i've always found that at lower rpm's a car with either no box's or a single box feel's less lively. and with a twin box system it feel's better. my own car as an example was fine around town and nippy upto 3200rpm when it came to the power band of a typical vr6 when i was running a 2 box system but when running a single box i found it seemed less lively upto the power band but quicker past th

so long as the leads are fitted correctly there should be no matter if they are different lengths, just make sure they clip onto the plug correctly, are you using the correct lead removal tool to re-fit the leads? you flip it upside down to push the leads on. also are the leads used one's? as they could be arcing against the inlet manifold. the lead should have 5 kOhms stamped on the plug end i beleive, atleast thats what my obd1 coil pack engine has, if the leads offer up the incorrect resistance then they wont work correctly.

Clutch Pedal Bracket - Snapped Grrrrrrrr
gavinvr6 replied to Apollo's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
google it fella, there was a long thread on one of the forums about this. whith a how to for fixing and strengthening it. -
vr all the way, i love the 16v and the way the engine goes but compared to a vr it feel's weedy, mk2 16v = lightweight over sized go-kart, vr6 = big fat lazy yawns of power. but lighten the vr engine and it'll get just as revvy as a 16v, even a well cared for standard engine should still bounce around the rev counter very quickly

Absy Mk3 R32 Conversion - FINISHED P23
gavinvr6 replied to VR6_Absy's topic in Members Rides and Event Photos
either way, it's gunna be a schweeet conversion to have, and also the engine will be in something that aint as lard arsed as a mk5 so even better -
i can only tell you what i found from my own experiance, i was running de-cat straight through to twin 2.5" tails from a single back box. it's great around town popping and banging on lift off but on a motorway the drone sound can get tiresome. have you actually measurred the zorst? only ask as if a standard vr is 2.5 i cant think why anyone would deliberately make an after market one smaller than standard. unless it was to try and retain back pressure. a de-cat is a good addition, wont transform the car but does add a little bit of zing. i tried everything with mine, cat back single box, doub

i found with my 2.5 and straight through that you lose low down torque so around town it can feel a little boggy, BUT with a straight through and less back pressure the engine breaths better at higher rpm's where the vr makes its power. and if your giving it beans you'll always be at the higher rpm so need a free flowing zorst. a 2" should be fine, it will help keep back pressure up to keep the torque low down, it would be better if you lost the mid box to allow a little less back pressure. but it's louder, i dont see the point in a 3" on an n/a engine. but thats just my 2 pence worth.

Top mounts and bearings?
gavinvr6 replied to editionmatt's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
if you can afford it get poly's, but not really needed on top mounts, just fit new ones all round. oe or after pattern are are both fine. purist's say oe only but i have run pattern mounts for yrs with 80mm drop up front and never had any problems. p.s i got a pair of top mount kits (the ones with the bearings fitted) listed in the for sale forum. not sure if oe or pattern part but the same one's im using -
did you not use the entire loom when doing the conversion. im in the process of breaking up my mk3 to build a mk2 and will be transfering the entire engine and ignition loom including the 2x2 diagnostics plugs (mines obd1 coi pack).

Top mounts *now with added problem!*
gavinvr6 replied to dubmad's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
i like that one, i'lltry it next time i take a car to the mot station with the zorst hanging off lol. cant fail it if its not there -
did you use new top mounts when you fitted the coilies? creaking sounds like the rubber rubbing against the metal, it could actually be the bushing for the rear beam twisting and making the noise and just transmitting the sound up the leg into the boot making it sound like it's coming from the struts. if you remove the caps from the top of the struts and bounce the car quite vigorously there should be zero movement to the strut top if it is moving it may need either tightening slightly to take out he play or new top mounts. rear's are a peaice of piss to do. less than an hour to do both side's

get down to farnham fella, go see the guys at farnham car radiators by the hospital. turn left at the lights into he cul-de-sac of bungalow's and they are round the back at the end. they should be able to build you a custom one if you give em the specs you need. i've never used em but one of the fitters at work swears they are the dogs danglies

yeah have other things i can do until i have the 2 sockets i need. gotta get the entire interior out plus fuel tank/pump and all the little bits until its ready to go then i can lose the glass and doors and that. whichs begs another question---- does anyone have a bonded glass wire? to cut out the screen.
-
im gunna be having a go at the car tonight if anyone can loan me a couple of sockets for a couple of hours, can collect and return if nobody can bring them. at most i'll bring em back tomorrow

for me it would have to be the vrt. i do love a big power liner or evo but i know they break very easily, although i think everyone will agree a vr6 isnt the most reliable engine and lots of silly little things can go wrong and often do BUT the way it delivers it's power and the way it relentlessly pull's to the red line without a 2nd thought, even on an old dog tired or half broken engine. and that is only amplified in an fi vr6. so if you love your vr you'll get a renewed love like the first time you drove one when it's got a tubby strapped on it.

i'll be on it most nights next week, mon-thur. poss miss wed to take the rug rats to cinema or sometng. so any of those, let me know when your gunna pop round n i'll free up that night

is that the big box that bolts to the underside of the header tank bracket?? i've read i can just wire the rad sensor thingy to control the fans anyway so if that works out i wont use it. dont quite get the twin fan thingy as the second fan on mine is run from the first fan via a thin belt. so dont know how it contros it unless it's a twin speed controller
-
top mounts are 22mm. adam i may be using the control module. if i dont then yes i'lll have one
-
folks i need a vr hub nut socket and a front tup mount socket. im gunna be attacking the mk3's strip down next week as i aint touched it since paul and bungy took the engine out in under an hour lol.. that was about a month ago and i need the mk3 gone by end of next week but need these parts removed first
