    pedal box

right, just a simple query, is it possible to fit the mk3 clutch pedal into a mk2? essentially that's the only part of a conversion that means you gotta swapthe whole pedal set. understand the mk3 clutch bracket will need a little tinkering but will it join up to the mk2 main pedal assembly? the clutch pedals and bracket on a mk2 is seperate from the main pedal assembly but im having probs removing the mk3 pedals in order to compare them. yes i know a rado one can be used and also a passat b5 but i cant find one of these at a sensible price. if it's not possible then i'll just run a cable clu
  4. just dont use anything with a fine tip. i spent 80 odd quid on irridium tipped plug's and it burnt em out in 6 month's lol i currently have cheap ngk's in at a cost of 3 quid each and to be honest they do a perfectly good job
  5. if your 30mm lower then yes they will rub. last thing you need is the tyre catching a sharp spot at 70mph and sticking you into the armco mate.
  6. if the price is that good, buy em try emon if you dont like em ebay em for a profit they'll fit but them tyres are to big. 40 profile's on 17 inch rim's, go down 1 profile for every inch increase in wheel size. to maintain a balance of the overall rolling radius. plus 205's would be better, and cheaper. 195's for a little stretchy look but 215's are a little wide especially if your lowered or planning on lowering it
  7. i've got a huge conumdrum guy's and gal's. i've just started a mk2 vr conversion but am now facing a sudden loss of my storage space (read as neighbours garage). i have always wanted to build a mk2 vr and this could well be my only chance. admittedly it's not going to be a minter or re-built nut by bolt, just get it in get it running get it mot'd, as a toy for occasional usage. what do i do. begging for the space is pointless (they are moving) yet no time to finish breaking down the mk3 and getting it moved so i can locate the mk2 there. do i sell up, cut my loss's and keep dreaming or is ther

dont expect massive gains. i have a rado mani fitted. if yours is an obd1 coil pack vr it uses the same 70mm throttle body as a rado so no point changing that. its only the manifold thats different. rado mani, decent filter and a cat back will make the car more responsive but unlike other vehicle's vr's are hard to get power from.
  9. wise word's from our fearless leader
  10. could be interesting result's, but i wouldnt expect a lot, may give you a good kick low down for launch but could restrict thing's at higher rpm's, i beleive a standard vr6 gulp's about 17 ltrs of air a minute (or a second i forget which one) unless your charger can better that i wouldnt bother
  11. basically the moun t on the mk3 column is lower than the mk2 mounting point by about 6-8" so need a bracket/box section of come kind to be fabbed up. the mk3 pedal box needs modding to fit the mk2, im sure we spoke about when you and paul done such a wonderfull job pulling the engine out for me. i will take a pic of the steering column conundrum in the morn and upload it, and one=ce i get the pedal out (awkward bolt to get at) i'll take a pick of mk2 and mk3 together to show difference. basically need mk3 one turning into a rado one
  12. im breaking my 5 door and have window mech's availible, what one do you need? or if you can figure out what bits broken i'll see if i can pop if off my broken one
  13. wish thisa was an option before i started on the mk2, could of got you to straighten up the mk3. never mind ay. any chance of a bracket to fit the mk3 column into the mk2? also the mk3 pedal box mod if possible. i re-fitted the mk2 one as had opotunity for a cable kit but that went tit's up and figured prob cost less to pay you to fab up the required bracket to fit the mk3 pedals instead. rado one is getting bloody hard to find.
  14. anybody? come on guys most of you have pulled the engines out a few time's. im only asking as i cant afford to buy the wrong size
  15. what size socket do i need for the drive shaft hub nut on a golf vr? some are telling me 30mm others 33mm. need to pick one up so i can do some more work on the mk2 project
  16. phirm are now located in hartley witney i beleive, you can try checking croydon, there are a couple there, but avoid eurotec.
  17. you could all always take a nice vr parade to portsmouth with boot fulls of tools and help me do my mk2vr conversion a meet, a drive and a bit of 'saving an idiot who's out of his depth charity work' lol
  18. put simply these idiot's dont like being beaten by cars that are 15+ yrs old and hit same or similar 1/4 miles and can be bought for a grand as apposed to a 5+ grand, i've lost against stripped out hot hatches yet clung onto the bumpers of 30 grand car's. and even if i beat a guy in a hot hatch they dont mind, where as someone who's car is worth over 10 times mine dont like it coz he thinks he's a flash git till i show em up. it's generic bully tactic's. pic on someone else to draw the attention away from your own failing's or should i say your cars. i dont care what other drivers say, im stom
  19. hmmm i got a garage less than 200m from me who's into dub's. if all it takes is a safety report saying it's of safe quality it's gotta be worth giving they guy enough for a night on the sauce
  20. happy birthday for yesterday. 33 you old git, oh hold on im 34 this year my apologies

  22. i'll pop one of the local kids on it for £10 and see how far they fly.
