  1. shit fella, i feel for ya. dont let the insurance write it off, if they insist tell em it was mint and you need atleast 2 grand for a suitable replacement, work's everytime lol
  2. a cheap ebay one will do the job, i know it's just a peice of alloy with bolts in it but if it's the same guy who does thhe mk2 vr solid mounts the quality is great as they are cut to fit perfectly and well worth the money.
  3. it'll probably be a stupid o-rong or something, check vag-cat.com
  4. hope its not a wasted trip for ya fella. enjoy the drive back, hope you dont get stuck behind a caravan or horse box on the 303 i know how annoting that can be, but then you'll have the vr hopefully so you'll get round em no worries lol
  5. basically mate pull the card off, carefully peel back the moisture barrier, then grease anything that looks like it moves. i've heard of people using a small amount of wd40 inside the air pipe's and actuator but i dont like that idea. but it's a case of having to do it all the time during the winter months you cant do a 1 shot treatment with it unless you can dry everything out then keep it dry.
  6. mine done this to me for the last 2 winters, once it's defrosted and the door opens freely spray white grease onto the catch and any other moving parts and wd40 into the chamber once a week via the key hole. and rub wd40 onto the seals until slightly shiney, again once a week, as it stops the seals freezing to the door. this works if it's unlocking but not opening. if its still a problem or just not unlocking it may be that there is moisture inside the vac line or cylinder for the drivers door which means taking it out and taking it inside for a day or so to allow it to dry out.
  7. atleast you got a decent curtosy car out of it. sorry to see the car fella. look's like you was just getting stuck into it as well
  8. has anyone local to pompey get an engine hoist i could borrow for like 2 hours? i gotta get the mk2 out of the garage as the owner of said garage has moved away. i aint even finished the wiring yet but have no-where to store the engine so i need to drop her in and work round it. need it asap as i can get the car out but cant lift the engine and box to get it out the garage
  9. today i said good bye to my mk3 vr6. i've had her 4 or 5 years and loved every second of it, both the good times and the bad. i removed everything i could get a spanner to and will be putting the engine into my mk2 more door. R.I.P------K47 OAP Gone but not forgotten
  10. PHOTO 7 [link] Something's are best left alone
  11. PHOTO 5 'come one then i'll take you all on'
  12. it should have the lettering embossed on the housing. just coz the tag aint there dont mean sqaut. it could of got pulled off. sounds like he was just being an arse hole, and slagging off the bits you had in the hope he could get you to buy his stuff.
  13. you'll only now by looking at your own screen, it could be either. park facing something white like a garage door or wall and sit in the drivers seat popping your head in and out of the car to see if there is any difference to the white object. i have a screen thats new (seen 100mls) in my vr im stripping. it has the triangle (tripod) mirror mount though which i beleive may be the wrong one for yours. but can include the mirror as well if need be. gimme 50 and come take it out. but you break it you lose ya 50 quid lol
  14. for me it's more fun just to let em know they cant get away. then and only then, if they persist, you push a little harder to prove a point. i only 'race' amoungst friends for fun, at the local air strip of course.
  15. hey fella's just a quick question. to put it simple i've stated installing the wiring from my mk3 into my mk2, im doing a complete swap as the mk2 was a 1.3 cl not a gti model. i removed the loom that runs down the drivers side to the fuel tank, im guessing this is the fuel level sender, it plugs in the top of the tank. any way when i tried to seperate it from the rest of the loom i broke a couple of weak wire's and now dont know where it goes. im also guessing the fuel pump is inside the tank and i aint got one uder the car, so this will be for this too. i need to know what colour wires i ne
  16. 10w 40 and a bottle of stop smoke to try re-seal the damaged rings or valve seal's. but if it's smoking that bad, especially blue. he'd be better of spending a couple of quid getting the seals or rings changed instead of a gallon of oil a month.
  17. i've only ever hit the rev limiter on my standardish vr once and thats only coz i wasnt paying attention join in at the next rr day and install a shift light using the graph as a guide to set it. no point just hitting the rev limiter coz as it passes peak power , which is about 800rpm below your current limiter it starts to tail off and you'll lose time/speed. admittedly the sound of a vr at the red line is awesome but it's not good for the engine.
  18. where do i get slapper 2.1 or mistress 2005? my girlfriend 1.0 need's to be updated
  19. hell yeah, that would be a buzz and a half. but what they dont show you is how he base jumps to get back down again lol
  20. lol,,,,oops. atleast your handy with spanners i got a mk2 shell and a mountain of vr6 parts i need to wedge in it lol. im dreadful with car's and am about 20,000 leagues out of place
  21. nice, is it the actual rack thats gone or just the rubber boot. i beleive the boots can be changed
  22. ok well how much is new panels to mould from? i'll donate towards the cost of a panel if it mean's the price will come down on a finished set for club members. i mean 10 people donate 10 quid towards panels and get that off set from a finished item. i can even donate my mk3's bonnet and bumpers if need be to mould from if any use. as no good to me no more, dont think any of em have any nasty gauge's in, atleast nothing that wouldnt be sandable from the finished product or mould.
  23. hey fella, i removed mine the other day for the mk2 conversion. it's quite easy. but that was engine out lol i got a vr6 pocket mechanic book some where i'll see if it has the steering rack in it. if not ask some one from the amazingly helpfull team south to pop it out for you. or if you undo the 4 bolts that hold the sub frame on you can drop that and try feeding it out. it can be very fiddly though as absolutely no room to work
  24. someone was selling some on here a little while ago, check the for sale forum's. can you do these for mk2's? i may be interested in front wings if possible and a bonnet
