You can do it. You need to remove/reocate all the crap above and I took off more than one engine mount. Also check your exhaust as you lift so as not to crush and then jack away. Once there get the absailing kit out and good luck. Traditionally they are an absolute B*****d to dislodge/break the seal. Once done that its a 30 second job and you'll wonder what all the fuss was about! Make sure you put good quality coolant back in. Run it for a while and ensre the heater matrix refils (turn heater on). Worth keeping some water handy just in case as there are always the odd litlle bit of ai

  4. I don't know about the bearings... but here's an alternate to that that may be worth double checking. Have you checked the air routes as this can make high pitch Whistle kinda noises under certain conditions. though usually effects performace..... Wot re-circ valve you using and is that ok also??

  7. Mr. G if you become a premium member there is access to a lot more comprehensive information on all these subjects. (only £10 and you'll make that back on your first purchase) Discounts and group buys will drop the costs by a good 10% 16s for handling and 17s for looks. depending on how wide/low you go depends on if you roll the arches. I can recommend the forced route

  12. Ok, good one. I found that as I had my pipe and mani fitted at the same time I didn't get a noticeable change in drivability. U know like usually when you put just a pipe on you can feel the change in the low end vs the high end when you drive it. You do not get huge increases as basically there is not enough space in the engine bay for it on the golf. (VW did a good job at day one within the design constraints). I would expect 5-10BHP! You do need to heat wrap it also... which helps wick the heat away aswell! Als depends what pipes you have on as well of course! I found that the manif

  14. Admin wrote ... I'm trying to collate some information together regarding the maintenance of VR6's. So I'm interested to know the following from fellow VR6 Owners! * How often do you service your VR6 (every X Miles / yearly intervals etc..) * What items are normally serviced / replaced. * Have you ever had any additional work (tuning, maintenance) following the advise of a garage after a service. * What oil do you use when your VR is serviced? * Do you take your VR to a Local / Dealership or Specialist Garages for your service? * Average Price per Service. Every 5k which is once a year... (i

  19. does the smoke leave particles on a white piece of paper and do they smear or absorb - petrol/water tend to absorb others tend to smear? Are the plugs black/white/colour?? does it stutter under acceleration/decel??? do the revs drop like a stone in between gear changes etc??? have you adjusted the dissy for any reason? Have you checked the timing - is it retarded??
