  8. An easy fix? Or a real Pain in the A??? As the part is only £25 I figure it has to be a 'mare. Any tips?
  9. As above, Stood looking at the engine and water seems to be escaping from the left side of my engine (pulley ish area). I can not physically see it! I can see underneath where it drips/pours out. Because of the charger I cant tell if there is/are any noises to confirm suspissions! The water pump is an obvious one what else could it be before I have to start major access? Cheers
  10. Well to my perril might I add a couple of close inspections that are needed as part of the install process... Before you go for your remap get a vag com done. turns out I had a foobarred Lambda so luckily we managed to get one and the remap could continue! I suppose this next is a given but you should take the opportunity to check/replace them I have had to replace my alternator and it looks like the Water pump has just failed! You need to remember that all these areas are working just a tad harder and taking the front ot the car off each time to help out with the charger removal is a pig !!

  13. OK welll.. If you have a distributor cap version with the rotor arm in it then yes that'll be the cause of the missfire. (& you wont have a coil pack) Need a bit more on the groan noise. susspension/gearbox/clutch or you 'cos its early in the morning When the car first starts you get a whine from the car but that goes once warmed through/ no longer on choke. That's normal. If you have another noise then we'll need a little more information again. Hope it helps
  14. Just found the bill........ got mine from ebay Thermal Logic was the company. service was good and so far wrap is ok
  15. got mine on ebay thermal wrap and dont forget the steel tiewraps
  16. sounds like one of three things.. Earth fault on that aspect of the loom Stalk switch either wiring or internals Hazzard relay as on almost same loom so if there is an issue there it could cross over to the std operation. Best way to find it is step by step. It may take some time ! Get a very long piece of wire and use a known good earth connection then use this as a temporary additional link on the areas you think there may be an issue. It should show the improvement when you find it. (Long cable so you can run around the car with ease). Then once found solve locally. Dont forget y
  17. When re-assembling check the current on your alternator! mine failed twice so had to replace it. not the best...
  18. Pop the grill off -- Some take headlights out tho not always necessary depends on what you are trying to access. Then you will see the top bolts on the bumber. There are a couple disconnections required under near lamps etc.. and then the damned stupid wheel well clips. in the wheel well you can see on the outer edge some little black plastic do-hickies. the centre needs to be pushed through - DO NOT LOOSE THEM! once done a little manipulation and off it will click, Do not force it too much. Black plastic do-hickies in reverse put the thumbtack in then push the black centres in. Only a
  19. OK so heres a slightly different slant.... I seem to recall someone on here who had phoned around and asked all the manufactureres what their filter spec was and how it fitted with the VW specs. (May even be a sticky) I think K&N were the only ones who answered it. I'm sure No one has had any issues with BMC on here, All have a motorsports background and should know their onions. I just made me think :-p I have a K&N (athough the above had nothing to do with it) Cheers

  22. Does anyone have a picture and/or the measurements for the pully on the alternator? Thank you
  23. Discount on Vibra to premium members dont forget As said - there will be some movement/flex in the pipe; but not a lot... so in my humble opinion get a set of fast road and that will remove any worries and not be too harsh.. you may get other views from other guys... New is the way forward no matter which ones you go for
  24. manifolds seem ok got mine. you really need to wrap it for heat and also look at engiine mounts as there is no flex and this can cause them to crack. There is many a thread on here and dont pay any more than £145 for one.. Good luck!
  25. OK............... so been to VW and the Alternator was officially sh*gged! Giving out 30amps! Not the 90Amps we were expecting! So kinda Yay... Just now got to fit it again... Not so Yay! The mechanic was quite good actually and suggested that the pulley on my alt looked different to how he remmbered the standard ones and showed me a new one off a Passat. And there was a difference! New one was a lot smaller. It could be an effect even though it was working before we put the charger on - smaller diameter easier turn when on charger as belt contact not too high!
