  1. I think most people on here are on the Gmax or Koni options. Both work well and both give good quality ride and handling. Others work also. If you have a personal preference or experience of a brand then go with that. Once up and runnning let us know how the install and finished item is/are! I understand that the best combo are Eibach springs and Koni shocks. I cannot tell you why other than VW/Golfs seem to respond well to them! There is a lot to be said for the deal you can get on the main brands . I went for Koni as I know the brand and the deal was there! Good luck!
  2. TBH mate don't do it yourself! Thats a nightmare in the making! There must be a local dealer for you who can provide quality branded stuff. If you need to find someone in the states look up in PVW magazine! Good luck
  3. taking the silencer out will increase the volume. It depends on what existing pipe you have on as to how much more! As with all exhaust mods it will effect the power. To take it to an extreme if you put a 3inch pipe all the way through then you will feel the loss of low end grunt a fuel usage will increase around town. On the flip side when on the motorway you will gett better response and better fuel ecconomy. So you should really tailor it to what you need and want! You do actually want an amount of pressure in the exhaust system. (not just negative pressure) If you are serious about
  4. I think you summed it up for yor self quite nicely there . If you're not worried about going low then get a quality kit such as Koni and drop the fixed30-40mm and adjust the shocks to suit on the ride! Something like... Though you'll need to make sure they're correct for your individual car.. http://www.larkspeed.com/index.pl?a=i&p=261712A Shop around for the deal of the week if you see what I mean. I managed to get mine for £225 + delivery I'm still using my 15s on a that drop and works fine on all but the very biggest sleeping policemen/humps I hope it helps
  5. I am well living with out LSD at the moment!
  6. Nice........ I do like the frenched plate at the back. You gonna use strip light on the rear plate??? A vent in the wing also eh? BTW... you got a lot of polish and cleaning stuff??? That White is gonna be hard to keep clean Patrick You know what you're like LOL So whats next? You can't be to far off assembly now!
  7. need a bit more info m8 is from the belt side and are you sure its not just a worn pipe???
  8. Not sure on that one! Did you say you had the remap done ? If so Vince would have spotted any install issues! Forgive me as not sure on the routes of things on your install so....The only thing I can think of are: Leak from sump where you connected in May have a hose not as connected as it should be Have a kink in breather pipes - causing pressure Oil level too high Bit stumped other than that Sorry!
  9. do you have enough and good quality fluid?? Did it happen after the last trip to the ring?? Not meaning to teach you to suck eggs!
  10. Not sure what wheels you're running but in addition to all the above if you're getting serious then you need to look at the tyre size and profiles etc... 16's are meant to be the way forwards for handling! Also tracking cast and camber effect the "attitude" of the car. Overall ride hide effects this as well so whilst there is nothing wrong with the suspension low will improve certain aspects also! Depends how far you want to go! Remember you are trying to stiffen the whole car (to a point) so roll cages help also. So in a simple list! Uprated front and rear ARB Poly bushes Strut braces fro
  11. Is it just me? I cant see the picture!
  12. Interesting on the pully dimms! When I first started on my map - boost was low at about 7psi. that could also explain my overall lower than expected power. I will have to buy a piece of string and measure it ! Mmmmmmm. I have had a great MAF map also and works a treat - equal to OEM standard! Got about 600 miles on since and not experiencing any of those jerky isssues some mention at all. I was given a warning from Vince; that with the MAF you need to ensure you keep the MAF clean as it will get a build up of oil on it every so often and that will/can cause it to run like a bag of spanner
  13. A couple of things to check before you go too far down the line. on the side of your charger where the inlet (air) pipe connects check all the way down to the filter that you are securely connected and fastend all the way to the neck of each joint etc. The change in pressure will effect the operation of the charger and give similar effects! The closer to the charger the worse the effect and sound! Second is the MAF. Give it a clean! I am told break cleaner is good for this but have not tried it yet! You need to clean it every 2k to 5k or so depending on how your car runs; as it gets cove
  14. Saw this today.... http://cars.uk.msn.com/News/car_news_article.aspx?cp-documentid=4594824 Didnt think it was gonna happen

  17. Halfords and a syphon.... I got one of those self active ones and once it just about starts to flow lift the 25ltr can and then drop it back to the same level as the otherone to stop it. Works a treat!
  18. I'm sure theres a guide in the members section some where... Also I believe the 268 are a little lumpy and generally 248 used for chargers. Pleanty of guys running them on here tho'
  19. No misfire or anything??? Did you put the red tops & 4bar fuel reg in? btw??? That could be the cause!! You should lave std in until remap! If you can get it on the old VAG Com as that may help with a fault code otherwise I am a little stumped.... Sorry If I come up with anything else I'll post it !
  20. will be interested to see what Vince has to say about that.....Let us know after tomorrow!
  21. yup thats the one.. I phoned head office direct and collected that afternoon! Didn't cost me that much tho' as I collected
  22. OK, I have a couple of questions... Just done and mapped mine..and had a few words of wisdom from Vince at stealth Q. You have oil in your air filter??? You expect to have a little flow back through the breather pipe and the catch pot. You do actually need to clean the section where the probes fit in periodically just before the air filter as there is some flow back over time and that will cause the engine to run like crap. So worth a clean use a break cleaner or the likes! Q. Are your hoses kinked anywhere? The hoses areound the catch pipe were a little long on my install and the kink can
