  1. yeah, I just need to convince my company that they cannot put one brand x on with 3 brand Y. I also know to my personal expense that different brands work differently under differnt conditions on different axles.... (got the scars...) I am in need of some definate links or direction to get the info. Ideally all 4 is best - what ever brand. In the perfect worl I will find that link of film that fifth/top gear did with the different tyres on front and rear and proved all is not good with the mix of treads.... Any help would be great as they will not believe me..... cheers
  2. http://www.longlife.co.uk/ Simply pick the pipes you like...
  3. All, I was wondering if anyone had any useful links to why it is best to have the same tryes on each corner of the car. I know people talk about it's fine as long as same tyres are on same axle. But.. I recall something inparticular about the different tread patterns and grip levels and all that malarky. I think there was even a thing on top/5th gear where they did a little demo on a wet corner of a track. I don't suppose anyone has that link anywhere?? Anyway. If anyone has anythig it would be appreciated. Thanks
  4. Other - Longlife for me with the lifetime warranty for around the same price and is made to order/fit.
  5. IT would be great if you could expand a great deal... There had been issues previously so how was it to fit what power etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, Genuinly interested.. Cheers
  6. Had some time on my hands and I am a fan of old skool stuff & the likes... I found these this evening.. - worth the wait for the soundI just like this for the sake that it is meant o be a road car... I think I need one in my life... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReZegfLr8EI There were lots more but I thought I'd share these al least....
  7. With a little bit of lowering and a checky smile you can do diesel in style http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1991-VOLKSWAGEN-GOLF-GTD-MK2-ONLY-95K_W0QQitemZ300191623856QQihZ020QQcategoryZ18303QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Don't forget you can upgrade with the VAG bits
  8. From what I know there will be a couple or 4 issues each way. May I also suggest you check a couple of the other owners clubs specific to mk1s. Also if you can actually look at a VRturbo or charged engine and a mk1 bay with a VR in it then that may show a solution. The turbo will I think need to have firewall/bonnet mods to squeeze all the pipe work in. Intercooler wise is a made to order jobbie once you find space. Best bet is to put all ancillaries in the boot. Battery/waterbottle /grill/lights/etc etc.. Need every inch. Worth a go if you have the tools/time/fianance. Chargerwise, alt
  9. I thought you guys would like to see this just to keep you going through those dark nights.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75P_gLVOyUY Njoy....
  10. Usual suspects there m8. Warped discs or then into more technical stuff. Are they still bolted on (discs, calipers, etc....)??? Then may be contaminated pads with something like brake fluid on them. This causes them to stick or release depending on what is on them.... Also did they overheat when first installed?? Did you bed them in??? Hope this helps
  11. Well I admit it is Jap.... Here is the challenge guys N gals... should you wish to accept it! Find a car with Leather/heated seats, dual zone climate, cruise control, 6 stack CD, Alloys and it is actually lowerd by 15mm as std, Split rear seats, metalic paint. As it is a company car (with all those restrictions on engine size/emissionsetcetcetc) it does sit on Motorways and in the 4 years other than standard servicing and tyres... I have had to call the garage zero times and I have had to replace zero Items. Cost to me New on 54 plate... £15,599.00...... Match the spec and price on anythin
  12. I have sent you a PM see pg 5
  13. He s a living leg-end on these forums me old fruit! Used to race 'em in his day i believe also. I have travelled and will travel again as needed for his expertise. He charges standard rates and when you do go - if the van turns up buy food from it or take your own sandwich as his chocolate box selection can be low depening upon how his week has gone! So a resounding YES then !!!!!!
  14. Well.... there I was working hard and got to the point where the PC, my boss and client all needed to be shot on site.... So time for a braek and a coffee when the sun popped out and I took it upon myself to actually give the company car a PROPPER clean. Now It doesnt get neglected and I always look after it but I must admit I was chuffed with the end results today. So here are a couple of shots from my phone just to share with you all. Of course the downside of this is I will now have to work late to catch up but at least I didn't kill the boss [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1201009215_4
  15. there was a small note at the bottom if you scrolled down....
  16. Well once bought in there is no where else to go other than play... Read the guides and use the old common sense button. If you can drive more than 1 so you can see the differences. Milage wise Motorways are in the 30mpg on a run and more like the 20-25 around town. The thing that affects this is the use of the right foot. I would expect to get less to start with as you enjoy the fun factor pedel and then as your fuel bill rises you'll start to use it a little less as lets face it the car is quite fast enough for modern traffic without stretching itself. Only one thing left to say BUY ON
  17. I just means no Vodka for one weekend doesn't it?????
  18. Ok I managed to find it. Just Fyi all the last digits on the pulley are diameter in inches and VF tell me they are: MK3 Stage 1 & 2. The stage 1 pulley is a 3.25" and the stage 2 is 2.87" so for example my PN is 2A037-287 (Easy when you know how eh!!! ) So as I know there have been a couple of guys with the wrong pullies in the past this is how to check.... I hope it helps poeple out there Cheers
  19. I would suggest once into the forced induction and/or above 230-250 Horsies then is worth while especially as I think you are making it track ready. I would suggest that if you have the pennies then why not as you'll soon decide you need forced induction anyway. I have a rcolection someone is selling such a set up on here with a final drive and also there was If I recall correctly someone in PVW selling a set up also.... Remember it can always be added later once you have got the car running and set up as standard if you see what I mean... I hope that helps
  20. NIce and Red that car mate Also all those tents and a dog in just one car thats pretty good packing ....
  21. Centres otherwise looks a little brake dusty... if you see what I mean...
  22. WELL busy as I was today I decided I needed something to motivate me to save money and keep the faith... So I found these links. You need volume and then can search of the manufacturer name and see the others but you get the drift http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=RwTaQ-rHdUo&feature=related I do think the ones with L as the start of the name sound the best somehow.... Have a happy few hours...
  23. well if it has dropped a valve the minimum is just hole a cylnder. The other extreme is bent cams, depending on where the debris ended up then crank hole in the/ cracked block..... thing is you might be lucky it might not. As you can appreciate all those bits of metal at x thousands rpm soon get into things in that area and can end up with all sorts of problems.... Again tho' if a valve is just bent and you're gonna put 268s in upgrade pistons, port it and turbo it and .... Then as long as the main block is ok then sweet!!! I suppose it depends how much he is asking and if you want to tak
