  1. I need a new maf but can't get one till Tuesday. Will it be ok to run the car till then with the knackered maf disconnected? Also, will I need to reset the ecu when I fit the new one? And finally, will the new maf get rid of the slight heitation the car has with the kebabed maf disconnected? Ta. +o(
  2. Sounds a lot like what I've been experiencing for the last couple of weeks mate. I had a spare fuel pump relay in the garage, so thought I 'll change it see what happens. Ran a lot better, but still some spluttering between 1500 and 3500rpm. Went for a quick pint tonight, when I parked up thought I'll disconnect the MAF and see how it drives home. Driving home went even better, didn't notice any spluttering at all, but still some hesitancy when the foot was put down but thought that might be down to the MAF not been connected. So I think the MAF may be kebabed. You could try cleaning yours mat
  3. Howdo mate. Got a Golf, chilli red. Its standard apart from a K&N induction kit. Been giving me some grief the last few weeks, but running ok now, for how long I don't know though? After some alloys for it next, hopefully, unless something else goes wrong with it! Which part of the 'Boro' you from ?
  4. Thats the overflow. Coolant will come out if there is too much coolant in the system, or if the head gasket is firked.
  5. Problem solved. Fuel pump relay shagged. Is there only one main relay for the fuel pump? Wondering what Christine is going to come up with next! (6)
  6. Have you tried vdubgirl on this site? Think her name is Claire, can source cheap performance disks. Cheaper than retail anyway.
  7. Still a Datsun I'm afraid!
  8. As long as there not UV bulbs!!!!! LMBO. Can still see the scene from Friends where they turn the lights down in my minds eye. Don't go to any nightclubs either...... (h)
  9. Thanks for the replies lads! Here goes, Squirreleater- Fuel pump is a possibility I never thought about, but does rev to over 5000rpm but takes a while to get there, another reason I dont think its the crankshaft sensor. Eat this- The power loss has been to gradual, over a couple of weeks, I think to be the timing chain. Plus just had the head gasket done 2 months ago and had a new upper chain tensioner put on as old one was kebabed. Dellert- Like I said , have checked all the obvious. The plugs are only 3 months old, tried new plug leads and coilpack, disconnected the maf, throttle body is ne
  10. Have you seen the episode of Friends when Ross got his teeth done, and glow in the dark............ 8-|
  11. I am sure my car was sent by Satan to test me. It is suffering severe power loss. Have read some old posts on the matter and they pointed to the hall sensor but the hall sensor that is in is only about 3 months old. Thought about the crank sensor, but after reading some old posts, doesn't seem likely as it starts no problem after a few turns of the crank usually. Are there any other sensors that can cause power loss? I have checked the usual suspects (plugs, leads, coilpack, maf) and still runs the same. The car should have Riggs' num plate (6) Have it booked for a diagnostic next week if I can
  12. Its a sad country. If you kick fuck out of them you'll probably get done for assault or ABH,and they will probably retaliate by attacking your car again. The most you could do them for is criminal damage and youu'd need proof , cctv footage or similar, and like said they would only get a caution probably. I would just let it go, as it could easily spiral out of control.....unless they done it again, then its funny mask and baseball bat time.
  13. TSR-Performance used to sell heavy duty exhaust hangers specifically for stainless systems, reinforced with a chain, but that was a while ago.
  14. Probably just a confirmation mark used during the assembly process to ensure that the bearings have been torqued off. I work in the car manufacturing industry and confirmation marks are standard procedure on anything that has a torque rating, especially vital ones.
  15. There was a thread about these a few weeks ago mate, but can't remember if he managed to find any.Have a look back about three weeks and should find it.
  16. Nope. I was on about the aux belt tensioner on the left hand side of the engine at the top. Sorry should have been a bit more specific.
  17. Yep. Thats the type that was on mine. Looks like a squiggle on the top of the nut. Bit of a twat to get off as well, even with the removal tool, which is a good sign.If yours is the type with the three pins on, you should be able to get them off by hammering a 19mm socket onto them, as they aren't hardened steel, I've done this myself in the past and you'd be supprised at how easy it is to get them off.(off my car, not other peoples,by the way :-d
  18. Thats cheap for vw! Are they any good. I've just had to have my old ones taken off for the same reason, had totally fooked the key. Muppets. :@
  19. Is it a ticking noise coming from the left hand side of the engine while its idling?Mine was like this and when you revved it ,it sounded like all the tappets and camshaft bearings had knacked. Turned out to be the tensioner. You can check it by taking it off and shaking it, if it rattles, its kebabed. Just feeling for play on the pulley wont tell if its no good, mine had no play when I checked but thought I'll take it off anyway, shook it, sounded like a baby's rattle, shook new one, no noise at all. Been quiet ever since. As quiet as vr's get anyway.
  20. Can the crank sensor be cleaned in the same way as the hall sensor? If it can, is it the one on the front of the engine near the oil filter? Cheers.
  21. Take a plug out and have a look mate. If it's running too rich, the plug will be black and sooty instead of a nice golden brown colour.
  22. Where I live it's about 6 degrees and pissing down . Neuspeed do a lower temperature opening thermostat (think it's about 71 deg instead of 80ish) for less than £20. Last time I seen them was on the awesomegti site, but seeing as you live in Greece would have thought they would have a lower temperature one as standard, seeing as it gets a bit warm over there. 8-|
  23. Would probably depend on where you live mate? I live in the UK and my water temp never goes above 90, oil temp gets to about 92 ish when warm (m) Sorry, just noticed where you live, so would imagine what your getting as normal.
  24. Fuck, all the facey things have changed as well :-| :S 8o| :-( :-d 8-) ^o) (pi) (yn) (@) 8o| |-) +o( *-) :^) :^) :-* 8-| (so) (co) (m) (mp) (8) (~) (p) (yn) (y) (k) Wots Gannin On? And has that face got a really big joint in it's mouth?????
