  1. Sounds good mate. Elephant told me they will insure me to drive with mods but only replace the modded parts with standard parts. I'd never heard of HIC until I joined this forum. Will give them a call when I renew in July. Do they accept superchargers??
  2. lol...pics are nice of that engine bay... but that's my question... what exactly is it? I don't know much about Shrick inlet manifolds but know they obviously look very different. This C2 product is apparently an 'intake' manifold for the vr6 engine... for a n/a vr6 or they can add their turbo kit. Not sure if an intake manifold is the same as an inlet manifold.. I assume they are and just the american term. Has anyone heard of this product?
  3. Hi Just seen this post on the vwvortex forum about the C2 'Quickflow' intake manifold...which I assume is the same as the inlet manifold. Anyone tried this? Is it as good as a Shrick technically and quality wise? C2 from what I've heard are very good. Here's the link: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2384089 Pity it's only for sale in the US... cheap too over there at around £400. Are there any other makes of similar high flow inlet manifolds available for the golf vr6 that are around the £500 mark in this country? Cheers Matt

If it's a Raceland it should be quite good. Thats a very good price if it is a genuine one. I'm surprised it doesn't come with the flexi joint.. I thought Raceland exhaust manifolds came with them.
  5. I may be wrong mate. You're definitely right in the fact a remap is highly recommended in both cases with mods like cams or shrick as these alter the fuelling quite a bit and the remap ensures the fuelling is spot on to prevent detonation and pinking. A remap is mainly to ensure the fuelling is correct...and this necessary with big mods. Added power is just a bonus but not always the case. A basic chip is no where near as good as a remap but from my understanding will give a boost in power in the odb1 cars but not in odb2.

Better off spending a bit more money on a quality one mate. Cheap ones are prone to sheering and breaking. You're right you do need flexi joints on them just like the original exhaust manifold to keep it as independent as possible to engine movement. Also its a good idea to get the front and gearbox engine mounts uprated to Vibratechnic or similar to reduce engine movement.
  7. I would take what vw say with a pinch of salt. The Phirm have had people take their cars to them after vw did their chains and got the cam timing all wrong. VW couldn't even manage to tighten all 6 of my spark plugs at all (all of them were loose!). I'm never taking my car back to a vw main dealer...certainly not caffyns! When my chains needed doing the noise was bearly audiable underneath the usual tappet noise. The noise will only be a very faint background raspy noise. If it gets audiable then the chains are well on their way out and in my opinion the problem should be rectified well
  8. Depends if your car is an odb2 (made after 1995). If it is then you may see up to about 3 or maybe 5bhp on top of the mods themselves, but no more. I asked Stealth about this and I have virtually exactly the same mods as you mate. Vince at stealth said the gains would be very minimal ...i was on the borderline of needing it done... he said if I wanted more mods then go ahead otherwise it probably wasn't worth it. It will improve drivability but not power. My car is an odb2. The odb2 ecu is very good from the factory he said and even with my mods good enough to adjust and 'self learn' new
  9. What turned out to be the problem mate? Was it the top mounts?
  10. Is the Milltek 100 cells or do they do different variations? As far as I know I just have the 'standard' milltek high flow cat for a mk golf vr6. Currently my mods are: Cat back exhaust High flow cat 6 branch exhaust manifold And soon to be fitted BMC induction kit... Do you think I should have a remap (stealths rechip) or is it not necessary? My car is odb2 which stealth said was very good as it is... unless there are major mods. What do you think re my mods? When I spoke to stealth about this I stupidly forgot to mention I also have a high flow cat... they said with just a cat back exhau
  11. The later mark3 (odb2) vr6's will have slightly better performance than the mark4 vr6 ... (unless it's the r32 but then we're not far behind them either) due to the light weight 1180kgs that the mk3 has. The only issues the mk3 vr6 has is the fact it doesn't have 4 wheel drive.
  12. It may well have reacted with the super resin stuff as I used that on my old car and the super resin liquid left white streaks all over my car I polished my car with the Meguiars polish (also part of their 'deep crystal system' whatever that is). I haven't used the meguiars 'gold class wax' so can't comment. All i know is the stuff I used at the weekend (the meguiars deep crystal stuff) has done the trick and far shinier than my old turtle wax i used to use. So what is a clay bar and where can I get one? Do meguiars do one? Halfords don't have much in way of meguiars but will have a look
  13. Now on 79k miles (nearly 80k). It only had 69k last July... eating them miles up going to and from work!
  14. Two words: The Phirm. They are near Farnham (I think that is Surrey) but well worth the travel. They are one of the best in the country, very good value, and loads of experience, plus Performance VW magazine use them for all their cars. I'm getting them to fit new suspension to my car, which will involve them aligning all the wheels and doing the camber. Give them a call mate and let us know how you get on.
  15. lol... I hope meguiars does protect it well... as I already have some stain marks left over from some bird crapping on my car (I wish they would learn to love my car! ).. my last wax didn't do a lot to protect or prevent it happening either. In regards to new paint work.. well not sure about using harsh polish on it (although I have a couple of resprayed panels done last year due to stone chips and Meguiars which is quite 'natural' and not harsh hasn't affected those) and waxing new paint work can only be a good thing to protect it.. that's what the guy said who sprayed my panels.
  16. Hi Has anyone else used meguiar's carnauba wax (part of meguiars 'deep crystal system')? Got it in halfords yesterday... wasn't any more expensive than the other makes. I was originally looking for Zymol in halfords... but there was very little available so thought I'd try meguiars instead. It's really made my car shine...far more than the old 'turtle wax' I used to use... which was good but this one really has made my car shine... even my gf noticed! Not sure how long it will last as only just tried it. I also tried their polish too before hand (which I will only use about twice a year)
  17. I haven't got the BMC yet...getting it fitted for free at Stealth next weekend when I have a rolling road session. However quite a few people have said the bit of ducting that comes with the kit is not long enough to wind down to the centre at the bottom of the engine bay so it can sit just behind the front bumper grill... the only way is to remove the carbon cannistor. Therefore I was looking at buying a longer piece of ducting hose to reach down to the bottom of the engine bay in the centre so it will sit right behind the front bumper. Is it 90mm? I had someone else tell me it may be 80m
  18. Hi I've got one. Together with a Milltek cat back exhaust and milltek high flow cat my car made around an increase of 10bhp over standard. Worth it in my opinion. It's the same price as an exhaust system but gives at least the same 5bhp increase so can't be bad. A decat is a much cheaper option and gives 2-3bhp more but for me just arranging the mot is bad enough let alone fiddling around and removing and replacing the decat section each time as well. However I'm just lazy! Although decat sections do have a habit of b**ering up the lamda which isn't good. When I spoke to Stealth they sai
  19. Hi I'm thinking of buying some cold air feed ducting to replace the short bit that comes with the kit. How wide/what diameter will it need to be (in mm) exactly so it will fit nicely onto the end of the BMC? Thanks Matt
  20. Thanks for all your help guys. Looks like I will be fine. I know when fitting lowered suspension the 4 wheel alignment has to be done. However... will I need the camber adjusted as well with a 35mm drop? I know you do with big drops but not sure if it's vital on a 35mm drop.
  21. Cheers Stockers. Nice car...That looks exactly the same colour as mine...sort of a metallic blue in most light with a very faint tint of purple. Do you have a side on view please? Front deep splitter does look low even with that drop...but i think the deep splitter makes the vr look much more aggressive than the thin later model one I have so should be worth the odd light scrape here and there... Cheers
  22. Very nice. Anyone got pics of a car running a deep front spoiler with a 35-40mm drop?
  23. I'd be interested to see what gains these provide on a rolling road too.
