  1. Only have one fog light on the driver side? I could have sworn it used to be lit up on the passenger side too? Does anyone know the correct code for the rear tail light? Thanks.
  2. Hi Needing some new tyres soon. Which out of the above tyres should I get... which have the best grip? I'm assuming the ones with the better grip may not last as long... but is there a huge difference between the two types of tyre? My tyre size is 205/50/15 which is a bit of an unusual size. Does anyone know if Goodyear F1's come in this size or Continental Sport 2 's? I have searched their websites but cannot find my tyre size which is odd. Thanks for any help. Cheers Matt
  3. Hi EIP apparently do inlet/intake manifold for a n/a golf vr6 and claims gains of up to 10bhp and 10 lbs/ft torque. Not as much torque increase as a Shrick but more than half the price (selling for $500 in the US). Is an EIP inlet manifold a good quality product? Is it worth it and can it be purchased in this country? Has anyone used or know anyone who has used one of these? Cheers Matt
  4. Hi Ok first time I've had to change any lights on my golf... My rear tail light wasn't working the other night (surprisingly it is now - is this common for a bulb to not work one day and then come back on the next day). Anyway my rear foglight definitely isn't working on my passenger side... the driver one is. I am going to get a new rear tail light bulb for when it does go permanently and also one for the rear foglight. I had a look in the handbook and there are two codes for the rear taillight - 12v 21/5W and another code.. for a tail light accessory (not sure what this is but it has a di
  5. Cheers guys. I'm going up to The Phirm this sat to have my suspension lowered I'll ask Tim about it when I'm there.
  6. Hi is the B&M Short Shift kit worth it... does it significantly improve gear changes... and it is very easy to fit myself from inside the car?
  7. Hi Does anyone know more about Eurospec... do they produce very good quality products? Anyone tried any of their products? Cheers Matt
  8. Are goodyear F1's better tyres than sport/premium contacts? Do they last longer or grip better in wet and dry? Any other recommended makes or ones to avoid?
  9. Hi mate. I have already read the 'whole' thread before I posted my question. There aren't any answers as to the drivability with front wheel drive. Nor any to whether Vince recommends fitting an 8:5:1 lower compression in the future to make things reliable long term. Unless you've read something I haven't?
  10. So which is better... Premium Contacts or Sport Contacts... or are they better for different situations... i.e are sports better in the wet and Premiums in the dry.. or vice versa... or is one generally better than the other all round? Thanks for any help as need to get two front tyres soon.
  11. What's it like to drive with front wheel drive? Do you have to take it easy going round corners? Are you using one of Vince's 'rechips' which allow the standard ecu to be remapped? Would 268 cams be able to be used in your set up or is the limit 248 cams? Very nice car... just wish I had £5k spare to get a set up like yours. Whats the mileage of your engine by the way? Did vince recommend uprating any of the internals or lowering the compression?
  12. FK Highsports are another option for you mate... at 320 from Venom motorsport they are inbetween the budget AK's and Konigsports... a few ppl on here seem to have those. I can't see Konigsports being harsher than AK's. Konigsports have adjustable dampers whereas AK's dont... I think this says enough (not sure what your garage was on about). Highsports don't have adjustable damping either but are supposed to be better quality than the AK's.
  13. What are you on about? Don't want to sound rude but I think you should get all the facts first mate. When my car was open at Stealth recently I actually asked Vince if they could fit performance cams in (new ones) while it was all open and for free labour which he agreed. Unfortunately they weren't able to get any for a month. I had my car rechipped ready so it wouldn't need as much work if I had further mods such as cams or charger in the future plus it sorted my fuelling issues out. And Stealth agreed to give me a discount if I do have cams fitted in the future. And re my tyres RIX I b
  14. Agree it's not one of the loudest. My old k&N on my xr2i years ago made far more noise. However I find the BMC makes loads of noise at full throttle without the cold air feed...its more like a howl. Sounds like an aston martin.. But can be equally quiet when you want it to when you lift off the gas.. exactly how I wanted it as it was far too quiet with the standard air box on.
  15. Petesvw... very good idea. I just opened the bonnet and it seems impossible to connect the cold air feed without removing the carbon cannistor thing and even then it seems a tight squeeze due to the length of the bmc. One thing Vince said and which I have just seen for myself is there is a gap all down the left side of the drivers headlight at the very corner of the car... Vince situated my bmc to face this and he said this is a good source of cold air. I may also look at feeding the cold air feed up to the filter without actually connecting it as you mentioned pete so there is always a goo
  16. Not bad mate. Is that around 190bhp at the flywheel? Looking good.
  17. I've got one sport contact and three premium contacts on my car. To be honest the sport contact looks cheaper and not as nice a looking tread as the premium. The premium contact aren't far off from being semi-slicks tread pattern wise. Just wondered if one was better than the other?
  18. Hi What's the difference between Continental Premium Contact and Continental Sport Contact Tyres - which is best (i.e which supplies the best grip)? Cheers Matt
  19. Hi I remember seeing a thread recently (probably from one of the many searches I've done) which showed all the results from a rolling road day at stealth...may have been done a while back... but it was really interesting and showed what mods each member's car had and their bhp and torque output. If anyone has a link to this thread or one similar please let me know. Cheers Matt
  20. Sorry Rix mate I don't have a scanner. If you ever visit Stealth ask to look up the latest dyno for the number plate beginning p505. It's nothing impressive though as already mentioned at 192bhp and 193 lb/ft. Really waiting for some shrick 268 cams to hopefully get my power over 200. NS Racing may be a port of call too for a 2nd hand ZR2
  21. Hi Trying to get all the costs involved for fitting shrick 268 cams to my golf vr6. I know the approx cost of the cams themselves, the followers, and also the necessary remap. Just need to know the approx cost Stealth would charge to fit them (i.e the labour cost)? I have emailed them but if anyone knows please let me know. Thanks for any help and info.
  22. Looks like HIC it is then (unless anyone else has other alternatives). I was previously with Adrian Flux who although very good were extremely hard to get hold of as they are shut weekends and close at 5.30pm! Plus my renewal came through (this was on my old car) and it had actually gone down by only £1 (with not changes in my circumstances). So decided to move. Thanks for all the help and comments though. Any other suggestions..otherwise I may be looking to go with HIC. Cheers Matt
  23. Aren't they orange too on the odb1's whereas whitish on odb2?
