  1. As said above ...Highlines don't have the side skirts (not sure about earlier highlines...they may have plastic skirts and arches). Non-highlines pre 95 have side skirts and plastic wheel arches..same as the gti. After 95 the non-highlines lost the plastic wheel arches but kept the plastic side skirt.
  2. Mate I paid 3400 for mine... mint condition 69k miles on the clock, 1997 year... mine's not a highline but then that only adds 300 to the price. Well over priced in my opinion. Take a look at it though to get a comparison for when you see others. Good luck.
  3. lol... MrBen what drop do you have in your signature? Nice car. I like the morette style lights. How much were they and where did you get them?
  4. Thanks guys... How much of a gap will there be from the bottom of the deep front spoiler to the ground...in cms? And is the deep front spoiler strong enough to take a few light scrapes or will it rip my bumper off?! !dodge
  5. Hi Who here has a deep front spoiler with a 35mm drop on your golf vr6... does it scrape on speed bumps or when going down slopes in car parks etc? Cheers Matt
  6. Wide alloys mate is what you need...such as 8 inch or above. Then fit a 205 or 195 on it and you should get a nice tight fit on the wheel.
  7. Hi What are lowering caps? If "lowering caps" are fitted to my front springs to bring it down an extra cm will this adversely affect the ride? Are lowering caps a bad idea or good? Are lowering caps easy to install at the same time as having a suspension kit fitted? Do they last as long as the suspension kit itself? Any makes to go for or avoid? Thanks for any help and information. Cheers Matt
  8. According to Stealth the above suspension combo drops the golf vr6 30mm (on H&R springs) and 35mm (on Eibach) but really improves the handling. Who here has either combo, and more importantly who has pics of their golf vr on this drop !lol ? I think we should have a sticky thread of everyone's suspension set up and a pic of the side on view to show the drop/look, plus brief review about how good the set up and the handling is.
  9. Very nice car and love the wheels. How much did you pay for them? How much has your car been lowered by?
  10. How much has it been lowered? Looks lower than standard. Nice motor mate.
  11. Thanks for your replies guys. I heard Sachs don't make their dampers or suspension kits anymore... weren't they taken over by another company? Looks like I'll be going for the KW -40mm Cup Kit or the H&R -60/-40mm Cup Kit. Decisions decisions! I'm erring for the KW because it has less of a drop although I've seen pics of cars in the vwvortex forum with people who have the H&R 60/40 drop and it looks perfect... but I'd be worried about speed bumps and oil pan scrapes with a drop of 60mm at the front. I'll let you know how I get on!
  12. Yeah I just had a look down the forum page and it does seem I've posted a fair number of posts about suspension! A bit too much research into the matter probably lol I think I'm on my way to getting one soon though. I've read, searched and really looked into all the options for what I want and the KW kit seems very good quality and one of the best around along with Koni, H&R and the likes.. and uses gas shocks which is a bonus.
  13. Hi As title says, does anyone have a KW (non-coilover) suspension kit on their golf vr6. Reviews and comments welcome How is the quality, ride / handling/ control in tight corners at speed? They use twin tube gas shocks/dampers which seem good, and should be more durable than oil based dampers... is this true? Are KW a good quality make, on a similar par with Koni and H&R etc? Cheers Matt
  14. I've had a look at my golf's wheel arch and where the tyre sits. When the car is stationary on flat ground I have roughly measured out what I think 35mm drop would look like (with my index and middle finger lol...but on a ruler it roughtly makes 35mm) and I have to say there is still a huuuge gap left between the tyre and wheel arch. Such a hard issue deciding what suspension to go for... I need to get it right though otherwise I'm wasting my money. The options I have so far for my golf vr6 are: - gmax kit (highly recommended by The Phirm who are on a par with Stealth) which will provide a
  15. Am I likely to have scraping issues with a 60mm(front)/40mm(rear) drop, such as going down slopes onto flat surfaces such as in car parks or speed bumps?
  16. I've posted before about Gmax but forgot to ask what the actual drop is on a golf vr6... is it 35 or 40mm? Cheers guys for any info.
  17. Anyone? Sounds like this kit is not very common.
  18. Cheers guys. What's the general opinion on H&R Cup Kits? How will I tell if the kit consists of a complete 'strut' and what does this mean? Do I need new top mounts and bump stops on the rear too, so for all four wheels? Are camber adjustment bolts necessary not necessary then to alter the camber? The kit should lower the car 60mm at the front and 40 at the back... by the way. When stealth do all the geometery etc do they sort the camber etc normally? Has Stealth done anyone's golf here... what did they do regarding the camber? Cheers
  19. Hi I'm seriously thinking about getting an H&R cup kit fitted on my golf vr6. The kit itself costs £340 which is well below the rrp. However I need to know what other parts might be necessary on top of this like camber adjustment bolts or new top mounts...are these required or anything else such as new polybushes? I am visiting Stealth in March so it's likely they may fit it (if they can fit me in on top of my rolling road session) or The Phirm who are local to me. I know the fitting and laser and camber alignment is going to cost around £200+vat... so that's around £550 in total. D
  20. So what's everyone's opinion on Continental "Premium Contacts"? Are these any good? Do Continental do other varieties that are better? Or should I look to other makes that are better than Continental? Cheers for any help.
  21. PhoneHandler, if you're in Kent give The Phirm a call. They may be an hour's drive away but they are certainly "in the know" when it comes to the VR6, both engine and exterior mods. They are based in Surrey near Farnham. The Phirm are the garage that Performance VW magazine use. They are far cheaper than a VW main dealer and far far more experienced. Coilovers would seem the best option if you are getting large wheels to ensure you get the drop just right to suit the wheels. On top of the cost of the coilovers or suspension kit, budget at least £200 for fitting (which will include 4 whee
  22. Interesting about the reduction in bhp. I might think twice about one if that is the case. What work needs to be done to the 3 bar one to modify it? Is it worth it?
  23. You're right Ash they don't increase power at all. What they do is increase the fuel pressure (they're normally called fuel pressure regulators) and increase the 'response' of the engine lower down the rev range. You should get better pick up but no actual power increase. The Golf VR6 normally has a 3 bar fuel pressure regulator when the 2.9 corrado has a 4 bar. It's quite a good and relatively cheap (at around £50-70) mod to fit a 4 bar fuel pressure reg. to a golf vr6 to increase the "response" of the engine lower down. The Phirm recommend them. I'm getting one fitted fairly soon.
  24. Nice! What's a Schrick "BVH", Schrick "VGI"... all part of the inlet manifold? Are you running a cat bypass? I'm not sure what Milltek system I have... other than it's called a "Twin Jet" double exit slash cut. I've got a Milltek high flow cat too, and a 6 branch exhaust manifold (I hate to say it fitted by Storm Dev. who I've had recent trouble with) however the quality of their stainless 6 branch looks very good... they said it was custom made for them in China (not sure what I'll do about the "lifetime warranty" though)... it looks identical to a Raceland one which I've always thought look
  25. Cheers guys. I agree... when I had my exhaust fitted they really took the time to ensure there were no blows and everything was fitted spot on. Really recommend them. Pete, what mods do you currently have on your car? I remember you mentioning you had around 221bhp. Do you have a s/c?
