  9. yep the codes are the same, so if you already have a reader than the adapter is all you need.   15. I've got VAG-COM addatched to mine it's coming back 021 906 258A and mine is a 1992 distributor engine. which makes me think VW quoted you the original/expected part no.
  16. Hi Phil, Does that mean you've sourced one? They are easy for any one to fix. Hardest part is getting to it. It hides below the (UK) passanger side scuttle panel at the bottom of the windscreen. The ECU is secured by a couple of 10mm bolts and is connected to the loom by means of a pull to release type connector. There is a bentley guide available for the VR6 but the standard Golf haynes guide would help with ECU replacement and many other bodywork type problems. Good luck

  19. spot on then mate. still watch for valve stem and ring problems by way of the smoke signals. as well as all the usual car checks.

  21. I've got a not too bad DOHC one left over from when I found a 2.8 version :-D I can bring it to santa pod in march if you want it for knowt, and assuming I remember it.
