  1. i thought your plumbing might be in need of a good plunging
  2. I've certainly heard of people running without them temporarily, or with then knowingly stuck open ;-) But it's best to have one, helps get the engine up to running temp quicker. Reducing fuel consumption and wear. Using a low temp one is a common choice.
  3. There is a fee. note sure how much. vr6_absy will has he took abby for a go.
  4. All three problems could be to do with your MAF sensor is the scanner coming up with this code 00537 - Lambda (Oxygen Sensor) Regulation? which I've done some research on - mine's got it - and again is a MAF problem
  5. As well as antifreeze it has a corrosion prohibitor. the original G12 wasn't compatible with the earler G11 formula. so if you wanted to change you needed do have a damn good flush. VW then released the plus version which could be mixed. these days it's G12++ not sure what the second plus signifies.
  6. if I know the coolant is relativly fresh I have no problems with reusing it assuming I can catch it ;-)
  7. the kits come with one. which is good it's jut a bit of a pain to do as the access isn't great to undo the the connection to oil cooler. as for the water pump that is a far greater job as it won't come out without undoing the engine mounts and jacking the engine up. so really depneds on your comitment and level of skill
  8. yes, you are likely to shag the existing spring clips whilst getting them off unless you have the proper tool
  9. can be ;-) only three bolts but they can get corroded and sieze. The housing has metal sleeves which on mine (1992) had completely rusted to the washers and bolts so I had to drill them out. A good dose of WD40 or even better plusgas will help.
  10. think they cover it all. If you are careful taking the housing off you should be able to keep your new crack pipe for future use.
  11. I've just found a vid from the 8th of march 2009 where the main run way is used for a circuit and is clear. must have miss recognised my airfields during BBC news reports about the state of the car market.
  12. passengers are allowed on inters 1/4. Has anyone seen the recent arial shots of bruntinghthorpe? it's being used to store un sold cars and all of the runway is full. dunno where the show is going to be
  13. great news. I was going to suggest the short journey source of the mayo. I never do short journeys in mine. I cant! I either go the long way to work or get home and then keep going ;-)
  14. by back left do you mean near the maf/airbox? do you mainly do short journeys or longer ones?
  15. if it's the abs light - near the door - then it won't be the pads I'm afraid. There is an option which indicates pad wear in the main dash. VAG-COM will tell you but the club has no volunteers in your neck of the woods.
  16. worth a try ;-) it's fooled me on occasions!
  17. there is a dash dimmer on the head light switch ;-) has the abs light come back on since?
  18. mmmm indeed. when was the MOT? Was it doing it then?
  19. I'd keep it private. not out of niceness but because i don't trust insurance companies to do the right thing.
  20. nice replacement. hope I can keep mine on the road until I can afford to upgrade to such
  21. chalk and cheese. valver feels nippier around corners as it's a lot lighter at the front but the pull of the vr feels way more then the 25bhp difference cos of all the torque.
