  1. yep, so back on topic, the odb2's such as justins with the zr2 will make more power anyways as the rear banks slightly more fuel than the fronts to make up for the different inlet runner lengths.
  2. 720RPM on mine, if its obd1 do the ISV... tbh easiest thing to be do is to stick it on vagcom, if the tbody's dirty it'll have high adaptation values...also it could identify other issues. also items like the aircon, headlights, rear windscreen demister all use up power and increase revs.
  3. i do not believe that on 6 psi you can get 300bhp...unless you have SERIOUS engine work. mighty must run about 8PSI and makes 275 although apd's runs at 8.5PSI (which im not sure about tbh, its quite low, will have to confirm this), and makes 308BHP if you include the lovely syncro's like justins, they make more power becuase they are 2.9, although i understand 2.9's are odb1??? justin maybe you can clarify if the syncro is odb2 or not.
  4. take the car to stealth and a decent second opinion (echo!), they will diagnose the problem without a doubt......i really do have alot of faith in the guys there, they are REALLY good.
  5. cheers for the correction, i dont know much about the vr timing gear...check the vortex site im sure they have the instructions for doing that stuff
  6. whats the smallest pulley you can get a for a z-eng charger and what psi does it run..... the vortech chargers are running at about 50% at 250bhp you can whack up the boost past 20 psi on some of the models, not that anyone i know has done that . most boost ive seen is on apd's, with 8.5 psi on a golf rado guys are nuts though !! vortech 300 bhp, 10 PSI pulley, 300 bhp...you'll no doubt encounter heavy detonation and your en gine will get destroyed without bigger injectors, reduced compression and forged internals (my understanding is that you dont need to have forged items but its helpful)..
  7. my mum tells me you can appeal those tickets and if you put your cat back on, then they can't prove nothing, the courts seem to favour the drivers when there is 'lack' of evidence. gav your getting a v1????? LOLOLOL tbh it sounds like nothing else when its spooled up, ive only ever heard a z-eng kit once and it sounded pretty frigging sweet, the whine is excellent. v2 ive never heard, v1 has the best whine ive ever heard, its like a jet....but its just the idle sound is quite intrusive.
  8. dont bother m8, get spacers from a reputable company, ebay spacers are crap, i have a set of 4 15mm spacers i wiped them with a damp cloth and they rusted within an hour, imagine what would happen on your alloys with the salt and rain this winter.
  9. i would seriously consider buying a kit from a one of the UK re-sellers if you are planning on the zr2 upgrade and remap as you will no doubt need help with the set up as it develops niggles. try stealth, ns racing for vf-eng kits (v9 vortech -f trim) or ultimatetune for c2-kits (v2 sq). if you have an odb2, i'd recommend going for c2 kit, the USA chaps on vwvortex have many good things to say about this small firms ECU SOFTWARE. VF-Eng kits have a bigger base in the UK, as the c2 kits are just starting to pop up, they support odb1 and odb2. regardless of kit, i would recommend a remap, if you
  10. good luck with this m8, and let us know how it goes and what the problem was that caused it.
  11. , if its a vortech, it will have two, one on top which means its a v9, and one more, probably at the bottom, dunno which is inlet or outlet, on my v1 the inlet is near the bottom, but you can see it from the top of the engine bay, but the outlet is right at the bottom and there is a hole in the car that it goes through, so you may not see it. check the oil level in the morning m8, if its fine, its fine, if you have screwed the engine, check your charger bearings, they are really delicate. take it to vince m8, but check your oil levels first m8, also your supercharger should be bloody hot afte
  12. charger doesnt take its feed from the sump does it? thats its return hose m8, charger needs a pressurized feed from the oil filter housing...if your oil pressure light didnt come on, or is malfunctioning your light wouldve come on m8, on mine no oil comes out the cap. best way to check is to unplug the oil return from the charger and see if oil runs out of it..dont expect the oil return to be under pressure though...it runs out under slight pressure. if the idle is hunting and its running poor, i would check for a vacuum or air leak, lack of oil is usely accompanied by noises...naughty noises
  13. yes, i thought i'd mentioned that, i dont understand how people do up their cars and havnt heard of their owners club, corrado forums know more than us in regards to supercharging becuase of all the g-lader boys. I still havn't got my v2 yet, i had better have it before the r&r.....im sure vince will attest to the stupid noise it makes.
  14. i use my old clay bar to get the grime off my windows.
  15. please be weary of v1's, go and listen to one before you buy, get a v2 or v9 with helical cut gears for quietness, you still get a decent audible whistle throughout the low rev range, people CAN hear v2's, but not at idle, which is perfect...i confirmed this by racing a corrado a few days back and then stoppinng and talking to the fellow...told him to join the-corrado.net forums...his car wasnt too shabby either, those 2.9's have a bit more low end grunt i noticed, only on the top end did i pull away from him.
  16. No one in their right mind revs their engine at full throttle when cold!!!, no wonder it rocked, i bet you it doesnt do that when its warm. m8, take it to stealth or phone vince. vwvortex has instructions on how to change the hydralic serpantine belt tensioner if thats what you talking about...and it involves putting a bolt in to loosen the tensioner and then undoing a few bolts and then putting the new one on and bolting it up... as a rule of thumb, noises from the drivers side of you engine are NOT timing chain related, noises from your passenger side *could* be. please please get a second
  17. the best site for 12valve vr6 chains has to be http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1264409 detailed guide on how to do it yourself, + a sound clip with the noise, what you should be looking for something that sounds like a bicycle chain slapping, or any rattles from the passenger side of the engine... take a look at the sound bite.... use a screwdrive as the metal (in the screwdriver shaft) will reverberate with the chain noise and you'll be able to hear noises from there more clearly.. get stealth to check for you, they are the only other (apart from my local vw specialist garage) garag

    rear style

!amazed ~ yeah yeah very funny.....any pics of sides smoothed?
  19. yeah i got fined for disturbing the peace in my car, the idle noise was too loud and the community support cops made me appear at the police station to get a ticket. its quitened down a fair bit though since then.
  20. yeah, good luck m8, explains why i cant get him on the phone tonight hehe, he's probably at the garage doing the prep work.
  21. 1. no it doesnt 2. if you do a search for footrest you will find the part number from VW. oh who am i kidding...here i think this is right. Foot rest: 1H2 864 419 www.amin.cc/pdf/footrest.pdf *pdf reader required* print off that pdf so that you know what it is when you go to VW, since most of them are monkeys. Hexagonal nut : N 904 827 01 and http://www.mrben1.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/VR/footrest.jpg is the picture of it. please do a search in the future tho m8 .
  22. on vortex they are more interested in painting the silver reflector parts black, thats what i found alot of info for.
  23. it has an idle stabilisation valve, on the throttle body, its the one that the plug goes into.
