  5. check sparks, ht leads and then get it vagcom'd to check for fault codes m8. put a pic in of the pipe its impossible to tell which one it is, there are quite a few pipes.
  6. there are quite a few threads on water pump removal, the ENGINE DOES NOT need to come out lol, any garage that says that is ripping u off m8, you can raise the engine a bit so the pump clears the cross member and take it out.

  9. I just (today i.e about 8 hours ago) put toyo proxies t1s on my fronts, replacing the perelli pzero 205/40 17's i had. I can tell you now, that the grip is awesome, i still had 2mm of tread on my perelli's but decided to change them to see the difference, i now have 1 perreli on my spare and one in the garage, but crikey, the toyo's are so grippy around corners! but the pzero's seem to be more comfortable >100mph. both are z rated. i got the toyo's for 72 pounds including fitting and tracking each.
  10. cheers mate, but im gonna leave it over night to dry out and see what happens i've got to go to a funeral tommorow so, hopefully it runs ok, if not i'll force it to run and dry out whilst driving lol (nooo!)
  11. I think it was sounding a bit rough becuase i'd worked on the car in the rain and maybe some connections got wet and hence need to be dried out a little.

  13. i just took it out and got a photo of the sticker...now i have another problem, the car starts fine but sounds like its got an air leak, does the ecu need to recalibrate itself after being plugged back in? also what is the sensor on the top of the ecu.

  15. on that picture which bolts need to come off to remove it and what plugs should i unplug, i need my car to work and dont want to break it. The GIAC software is piggy back apparently.

  20. The best way of telling is to look at the throttle body from the driver's side. If it has a large black sensor on it, it's OBD2. (taken from this forum, and it doesn look like its got a big sensor on it) The OBD 1 engine has far less emmisions controls and therefore is less restricted, but the reason it is said to be a more powerful and preferable engine to an OBD 2 is mainly due to it's construction. The OBD 1 engines were built a little better with forged crankshafts, heavier duty valve springs and retainers, and other such subtle, but effective changes (vwvortex forums) the main difference
  21. are you sure its odb1? i'll have to ring my supercharger guy up to change the details as an ODB1 what do i have to worry about, i've always thought it an ODB2 so the tensioners need doing at 80k. But i've always ignored odb1 posts and schricks!!!! ggrrrr, i even cancelled my bid for evil's schrick becuase it was odb1...what a fuxxor.
  22. mine is 100% a highline, it says it in the log book and has all of the ancilleries. i'll go take a pic of the engine now .
  23. oh shit, i've just ordered a odb2 suprcharger kit, can someone please tell me if my highline is odb2 or odb1, its got square indicators too. pic will be posted in a sec.
