  1. Scruffy, I would definatley change both rear wheel bearings at the same time as they dont cost much and it will save you time on getting the old ones out. As for the ABS ring it might be just as easy to put new ones on if you can afford them as they are not much,
  2. it seems like the fuel filter is clogged up. Do you run the car to nearly empty before filing up? as this would put a lot of strain on the fuel pump having to work harder. Try changing the fuel fillter first and try and fill up the car before it reaches the red marks.
  3. thats wicked!! Never seen RC model before and the Big Brother looks spot on
  4. I'm not sure what is exactly involved in the overhaul, It's like I said it's something I read on hear try doing a search.
  5. I've had my exhaust put on Friday by LongLife in Leeds and I can recommend these guys as very professional. They listened to what I wanted and gave me their opinions on the options I should go for. Excellent system and the exhaust note is just spot-on. Only wished I had it fitted earlier.
  6. Yeah, I would personally go for a manual as I think there easier to sell on. Just the thought of an auto on a VR doesn’t sound write. And I have read previous post that they need overhauling at about 80K
  7. Here you go quote1117099078=kevhaywire] Well done Snyper. You explained that better than I did. That's precisely what I was trying to say! CC freq valve. OK, now this is on OBD1 cars, not 100% sure what OBD2 cars do but what it does is vent petrol fumes into the throttle body. It's called a frequency valve because it responds to pulse waves from the ECU. During the 1st 2 minutes of a cold start, the valve is closed and the O2 sensor is going through it's preheat cycle. At this point the ECU is ignoring the O2 sensor and just blasting a rich mixture in. Also worthy of note, at wide open
  8. I've found out what it is and its meant to do it. It's a pulse valve thingy controlled by the ECU and it starts to pulse when the engine warms up, it's venting fumes back into the air intake. I did search on it here and found a post about it in May/04. It was explained a lot better by Keywhire i think thats the guy. I'll try and dig it out again
  9. could be your startee motor? Try and see if you can bump start it, i Know you shouldn't do it as it's got a cat. But if it turns and try's to fire it will probably be the starter
  10. spraying water on the coil pack will only tell you if there is any arcing there. But if the coil pack is in good condition i.e. no cracks then you wont see anything, but that doesn't mean the coil pack is not faulty. How about pulling one of the spark plug lead off and attach a spark plug to it then wedge it some how next a engine ground. then get some one to crank it and see if you can see any sparks
  11. LOL ! I've traced the other pipe that goes behind the airbox and it goes to the carbon canister thing.
  12. Help Please I'm getting some sort of knocking noise coming from around the airbox. I have traced the fault to an electrical cylindar thing that is attached to the box just bellow the MAF meter. it also has two small pipes one goes to the air inlet bit and the other pipe goes somewhere behind the air box. I can feel this pulsesating when i put my hand around it. Is this normal ( and what is it

  16. the coolant leak could be the thermostat housing. As for the oil the book quotes 1lt for every 1000miles so if it's averaging about that much it should be OK. Make sure you get the coolant leak sorted out ASAP and keep an eye on temp needle in the mean time
  17. The mph on the MFA is an average reading on one of the settings is for total time travelled and the other is for the current journey. However you can reset both of these setting buy holding the switch in either 1 0r 2 position for few seconds
