  1. This thread isn't for justifying my motives for doing it, but if you must know:- 1) I enjoy working on the car and trying new parts. It's just a hobby. 2) Because I had to change the pump anyway, and thought I may aswell try the newer stuff whilst I was down there as it's barely any more money than the old 12V stuff. 3) Because you said it yourself, with all the time and money invested in my engine, it makes sense to protect the crank from running dry, despite the fact I'm unlikely to ever track it. Yes I initally questioned the need for it, but I'm entitled to change my mind and the parts

  3. £214 for the whole project. Installed the pump last night. The R32 pump appears to be identical to the 12V pump, except the pick up head, which is shorter as Paul mentioned. You could in theory bolt an R32 pick up head to your 12V pump, but VW don't sell it seperately. The R32 output pipe is also the same as the 12V's, but has a captive O ring at the block end, which the 12V doesn't, so VW obviously addressed a slight issue there. The pump end of the pipe just dry joints to the pump flange like the 12V. I'll throw on the sump tonight and let you know what I think. Mind you, I don't su
  4. 0.58 will do that for sure. Depends where you want your boost though I guess. I like mine to start at 3500rpm and keep going to 7K.
  5. I used this Gauge for my supercharger - http://www.revotecdirect.co.uk/details.asp?ID=66 As for digital gauges, they are far from laggy! They are better for turbos if you are setting boost electronically and need to know exactly what the boost is. Analogue gauges are just 'boost o meters' where turbos are concerned. They're OK for centrifugal chargers though as the boost doesn't climb anywhere near as fast.
  6. Be sure your muffler bearings are properly shimmed as well... :^) What are these muffler bearings?? I think he's being facetious.
  7. Nice midrange, but you're losing 100lb/ft torque from 5000 to 6800rpm. What is the engine spec? That chart is useless without this information.
  8. That's because a lot of people have gone from a stock VR6 to a turboed one and gone straight to C2 software without trying anything else first ;-) I regularly hear of over fuelling problems and the Bosch 440 green tops are well known to be a poor choice of injector. It's good enough for most people though and is ideal if you don't want the hassles of a Standalone. If I was going for a Motronic remap, I'd personally get a custom map done on the dyno. You only have to have the intermediate shaft off a few degrees and it throws the sequential timing and therefore the fuel maps. You'll end
  9. OK, went to pick up my sump and pump and they're wrong. We looked on the Audi ETKA and can't find a baffled sump for any 3.2 Audi. It is definitely the R32 that has the baffled sump These are therefore the revised part numbers and everything you need:- R32 baffled sump - 022 103 601R - £89 R32 oil pump - 022 115 105E - £103 R32 oil pipe - 021 115 203 - ~ £20 Sump sealant - D176 404 A2 - ~£15 The oil pipe connects to the block and is different to the Audi and 12V pipes. Normal silicon sealant doesn't long in hot oil, so I'd recommend the white stuff VAG use (listed above).
  10. Good stuff. Looking forward to seeing that!
  11. I think Bill Schimmel just buys their gearsets and builds the boxes up himself. Cool, I didn't know they do helical gears. How much are we look at for that roughly? I would prefer to do that than install the 02M. Did they give any idea of maximum torque handling? It's likely they didn't change many bearings. It's generally only the input and layshaft bearings that wear. The layshaft bearing sounds like marbles in a biscuit tin when it's gone, but can go on for years making that noise. It's a tiny bearing too, and cheap.....just a pain to change ;-)
  12. Is that a "watch this space" wink? :-)
  13. Smart :-) Cheers C2 for your answer. I still haven't fitted it, got a couple of issues to sort first! Yeah the solenoid certainly looks like it will make some noise! Mine will be just boost control and not connected to the other inputs. The rpm signal is the thin green/black wire in your Motronic loom.
  14. Yep, Gabe (Cabzilla) likes his 1.06 A/R 35R. I think he's running 20psi boost and it's hitting that at 4000rpm with a savage top end. I like my boost to hit at 3500rpm as it's a daily driver and I need midrange flexibility, hence the 0.82 AR. Do SQS do a helical gearset or just straight cut dog engagement? I know Bill schimmel puts 800whp through their straight cut sets and it holds that no problem. The 02A casing shatters at about that level though. 02M is the best solution.
  15. That's about the 8th time you've posted that pic, LOL! :-) On the MOT front, you can get away with not having a cat if you're turboed or charged as VW never made a forced fed VR6, so the MOT man can class the engine as 'unclassified', which will have much more leniant CO2 emissions to pass. If your VR is standard, you will need a cat unfortunately.
  16. They love the Kinetic setup in the US. It's about time somebody in the UK developed a proper kit for RHD cars.
  17. Oh and you also need the R32 or Audi dipstick tube and dipstick. It bolts onto the oil filter housing rather than the intake manifold. Handy if you have a short runner or non standard intake etc.
  18. Audi 3.2 V6 sump - 021103603Q - £80.87 inc VAT Audi 3.2 V6 oil pump - 021115105B - £90.48 inc VAT. Double check the prices with your own dealer because they are prices I got from an Audi dealer who gives me discount ;-)
  19. Smart. FWIW, the Golf R32 sump is exactly like the baffled one in first pic cause I bought one from VW and gave it to Stealth to fit whilst putting my 3.0 block in. They tried to fit it but the oil pump fouled as mentioned. We weren't sure at the time if the R32 pump would bolt straight in, but we do now, so that's cool. I'll be trying the R32 / Audi sump again in the summer when cornering speeds are higher!
  20. I find the throttle response is better without the cold air hose, but slightly quieter.
  21. Great choice of turbo! You will love it :-) Cheers for the SQS link too. Bill Schimmel in the states uses them and he's laid down 800whp with their kit.....but the 02A casing flexed too much and shattered.
  22. Cool. Look forward to seeing that.
