  1. Mine are Ferrea - http://www.ferrea.com/ Yep, I would do the springs and followers at the same time, as in uprated springs and new followers (INA ones). O2M is from the R32 / 4 Motion / TT etc. Easier to get one from a V5 toledo or Bora / Golf as it's the FWD version.
  2. If you're into M3 bashing, I'd go with the GT35R personally. I would also do the head. Bigger valves and cams do make a big difference. It feels better everywhere in the rev range and it can hold the torque curve flatter to the limiter. My head has +1mm inconel exhaust valves and +1mm stainless intake valves and I use 263 low overlap cams. I have also run a stock head and cams with a turbo and I won't be doing that again.   3. Put a high impedance voltmeter across chassis ground and the lambda's signal wire (white I think) and when the engine's warm, the voltage should fluctuate between 0.1 and 0.8 V. If it's stable at 0.45V, it's either dead or still in warm up mode (need to do this when it's hot). I'd change the lambda anyway if you're in any doubt and only use a genuine one.
  4. That's always a good test when mapping. Overrun the engine for ages, and then floor it. What happens on a lot of cars is the mixture goes too lean for a moment, causing the hesitation. Usually a lazy lambda or bad mapping. Has it been remapped at all? Could even be a MAF issue or even a throttle issue if OBD2?
  5. Why don't you go onto the Corrado forum as there are a few guys on there installing R32s in Corrados? KIPVR and Herisites both actively doing R32 installs. It bolts right in and so long as you use slim fans, the radiator is unaffected. As for a list, just get EVERYTHING from the donor vehicle, bulkhead forwards and go from there. No one is going to write you a nice little list out listing every bolt and clip. Every install is different. Just get the engine, all it's ancills and the entire engine loom and you can't go far wrong.
  6. Yep, the front mount is isolated by the rubber mounted cross member. The rear and gearbox mounts transmit vibration through the subframe and into the car. If you're putting decent power down, the standard mounts are hopeless.
  7. What comes out of the breather isn't air though mate, it's exhaust gas laden with oil vapour. If you have an air leak post MAF, then that can cause over fuelling, but not connecting the breather won't. Ideally you want the crankcase fumes to be drawn in by the engine because it relieves pressure build ups, but the oil coats everything in sight unfortunately.

  9. Leave it alone! Doing that will yield absolutely nothing. The only way to gain anything from a throttle is to enlarge the throttle plate. Nope, the Corrado doesn't have the ramp in the inlet side. It has a 2 stage opening mechanism instead. Slow at first, then faster. It mimics the ramp in the Golf OBD1 throttle. The Corrado throttle is nasty, far too heavy, causes ankle ache on long journeys. Whilst I'm on, everyone assumes the Corrado throttle is bigger and better. It isn't.   10. How about an M5 Plenum? The older one, 3.4 straight six was it? You would just need to make a base plate to fit around your ITBs and then attach the M5 plenum to it. I reckon you'll need some pretty hefty slam panel / radiator mods to make room for it all :-) You're right about one end being lean, that's why you need a plenum that's larger in volume at cyl 1 and less volume at cyl 6. The air will speed up as it's sucked down that end and balance out the flow. You can't beat OE ITBs for reliabilty and ease of setup, but with the VR6 head ports being so close together, I'm not sure which on
  11. But even with a standalone running manifold pressure instead of Mass air, you still have the problem of the lack of plenum volume pulsing the MAP sensor too much, it will be tricky to map. In fact I've known people to run ITB engines purely on TPS as load, which isn't ideal. As you say, the best way to do ITBs (individual throttle bodies) and in my opinion, is to do it BMW M power style. I.e. enclose all 6 ITBs with a flow balanced plenum. That way you will have one air input to all 6 TBs and can use a MAF sensor. You'll get much better torque aswell if it's done properly. It won't r
  12. In my experience, the 2.9 manifold only gives a very small gain right at the top end. Which ever way you go, there will be small changes. Is it worth it? Get a turbo on it :-)

  14. We don't have EGR in the UK :-) US and some European OBD2 heads got EGR, which is just a small port on the front which can be plugged OBD2 = Small throttle + Small intake plenum. OBD1 2.8 = Big throttle + Small intake plenum OBD1 2.9 = Big throttle + Bigger intake plenum + higher rev limit. OBD2 usually always makes the same power as 2.9 with the smaller intake and throttle :-) The smaller throttle and intake keep the gas speed high at low throttle openings, which improves the torque.
  15. OBD1 2.8 and 2.9 throttles are exactly the same size. OBD2 throttle is slightly smaller diameter and different bolt pattern. If you want good torque, stick with OBD2 If you want a small top end improvemtn and flat bottom end, go for the 2.9 manifold.
  16. Yeah I got used to the stiff cable so didn't really notice it. It wasn't until I compared the old cable to a new one that i noticed how bad it was, LOL! New cables totally transform the shift quality, but it's a ball ache job. Yeah good luck with that on the 16th mate, I may even pop down as Woodbridge isn't a million miles away :-)

Yep, 205/40/17s have a much smaller rolling circumference than 225/40/18s. 1 revolution of the 17" tyre = 1817mm 1 revolution of the 18" tyre = 1943mm So the final drive doesn't change mechanically, but the resultant final gearing at the wheels unfortunately does. Personally, if I was going O2M, it would need an ATB diff anyway, so I would fit a taller crown wheel at the same time.

The release fork wasn't bent after all, but I put a beefed up one in anyway :-) Seems the gear selection issues were down to a seized lower shift cable (too close to the downpipe) and a worn shift tower. Sorted all that and the shift is very nice now :-) 24V is sat in the garage but is a long term project. I'm waiting for a short runner to be made that clears the Corrado slam panel. The 24V head is a lot wider than the 12V one and apparently currently available SRIs foul the radiator when fitted to Corrados. I feel a custom box section slam panel is in order!   19. I'm not sure I understand that. Are you saying the 02M needs a taller final drive to work properly in a MK2/MK3/Corrado? I did look at some 02M ratios on the VAG system a while ago and they vary hugely as you said. We worked out that on one 02M (think it was from an Audi A3) the top speed in 6th would be 125mph! Waaaay too short! I'm not sure how they get round that in the factory car? Big wheels and tyres maybe?

  21. Yeah as above really, but bear in mind the head gaskets are now the thin metal layered type, which raises compression half a point. So to get 9:1, you would need 8.5:1 pistons.

  23. My dealer mate tells me that according to ETKA, V5 Toledo and Golfs have a FWD O2M gearbox, which saves the need to plate over the transfer box hole. Can anyone confirm? Lowvr - If you like midrange torque, go turbo, it's as simple as that! A vortech does nothing until 4000rpm and then the boost rises very slowly and only peaks at the redline. The common mistake people make is "Vortech or Turbo, they're the same price?. The two couldn't be any more different if they tried. Turbos have a much bigger, more noticable power band.
