I use the demon-tweeks high temp pipe on my intake. The closest size is 82mm and I think they come in 1 metre lengths. 80mm is a difficult size to get!
I've got a C2 motorsports (check out www.c2motorsports.net for pics) cai pipe which costs $200. This will at least get the filter out of the engine bay and you could try and run a pipe from the front bumper to the filter to get some airflow into it.
You could buy some flexible pipework to make a feed or buy a new intake (cai) which places the filter just below the wing so it's not in the warm engine bay.
They don't fail that often. When they do go wrong 2 of the 6 tend to go at the same time. The insolation can crack and cause arcing which can lead to lumpy running. Do the epoxy fix and see if it runs any better. If it doesn't you might be looking at some other problem - leads, plugs or possibly the maf.
Yes there are a few guys on here inc. myself with charged vrs. Very good to drive. Same power delivery as a stock engine but with lot more midrange and high revs power. I paid £1000 for my kit second-hand but new, your looking at £2000+ No problems installing it. Very straight forward. They seem very reliable too. I've done 30,000+ miles with no issues relating to the charger or engine. Go for it!
Vortech chargers are mechanically geared internally whilst z-chargers have external toothed (zr2)and ribbed (zr1) drive belts. Pullies on vortech are easily interchangeable but most put out 6-9 psi but you can check this by measuring the pulley size.
I've got Vibratechnics all round. Excellent mounts. Engine is solid and no vibration. Theres a discount too for vr6oc members who purchase Vibratechnics. They cost about £300 for the three(minus discount). Fitting - probably 2 hrs labour.
chris 20vt - i'm sure if you bought one of the items off ebay and paid by paypal you can get the money back if he goods weren't delivered. I realise that doesn't help you with the items bought outside ebay.
