I agree with Binliner. Wait until the Mk5 R32 has been out for 6 months or so. Mk4 R32 prices are bound to go South and there will be more cars to choose from.

None (that I've seen) have built-in foglights. These remain in your bumper. Some have built-in indicators (like the Inpro Angel eyes) and some (like the Hella Mk4 style) don't.

Purple leather will match that nicely. Gof for it!

Don't know about engine mounts, although I will do soon!! Swapping the power steering pump is pretty straightforward, since it is relatively easy to get to from underneath. Things to remember are: 1. You will need a new drivebelt once you have removed the old one. 2. The Pump's Pulley is more easily removed/refitted with the pump still bolted to the engine. 3. You will need to drain & refill the systm to do this job. When refilling, you must use special VW Power steering fluid (green) which is available from main dealers, GSF & ECP, but not from many other places. Don't use the "

Tha part numbers are: 1H2 864 419 B41 for black 1H2 864 419 Q70 for beige 1H2 864 419 U71 for grey Fitting requires cutting a hole in the carpet and the sound deadening underneath it. Can post a picture of said hole when I get my car back!!!

Do the seats have a relay attached to the bottom of them? If you pull off the dash panel directly to the right of the stereo, is there a plug behind there? The Colour concept was available in Salsa Green, Jazz Blue, Flash Red, Yellow and diamond black, with matching heated recaro leathers in each case. Diamond Black was the most popular colour. Salsa Green ones are by far the rarest. All had the 2.0 8v engine. Source: http://www.volkswizard.co.uk/vwbrochures.htm

Didn't know that! I coulda saved myself a bit of time flushing my coolant system! ah well...

G12 is the only coolant that VW main dealers sell now and is pink in colour. It doesn't mix with G11 or normal blue/green coolant so if you've got that in there, you have to flush it all out first.

Water Injection (Pictures + Video)

The area behind the cover is ventilated. Lower down there is the main vent that comes out behind the bumper. A fan could be installed in there if you wanted to do it - easy job. -

Yeah, you could pop a few holes in the cover and install a fan behind it no problem. You might need a different shaped tank in order for it all to fit behind the cover. Just a matter of going round your local scrappy looking at screenwash/coolant bottles from different cars until you find one that fits nicely. Remember, some cars have boot-mounted washer bottles for the rear washers. -
In the US, the V6 version of the Mk4 had the 12v VR6 engine & 2wd transmission, straight out of the Mk3. The only differences are a different inlet manifold, engine covers & ECU map. This is generally referred to as the "OBD3" VR6 engine, but in reality it's just an OBD2 lump with the above mods. In Europe, we got the newer 24V engine & 4x4 6 speed transmission instead (Golf 4Motion). This is still a VR6 engine, with 15 degree vee angle, but has a slightly different engine block and a very different cylinder head.

Hiren, a tip for ya. On the cabrio, there is a trim panel that goes over that area where you've mounted the tank & pump (on a cabrio that's where the power hood pump is), finished in the same grey stipple as the rest of your trim. You could use one of these panels to cover it all up and make the install look "factory". The cover even has a hole in it (with pop-out cover) that you could use to top up the water tank. The part number is 1E0 857 467 if you're interested. Have you had the car Rolling Roaded since fitting the new kit? -
It's a shame about the styling, it's probably a nice car to drive. Looks aren't everything I guess. The Subaru Impreza STi is an ugly beast, but as soon as you drive one, you see the attraction... I'm sure the aftermarket will step in with some nice replacement bumpers & 'zorsts for the R32 which will improve it's looks massively, but IMO the Mk5 wasn't a particularly nice shape to start with. Way too Ford Focus Mk1 for my liking. With the new Mini, BMW took the shape of the original, sized it up, modernised it and it was a huge success. VW should have done the same thing with the new G

For those of you having to swap out your main water pump, I found this fantastic guide on the 'Vortex: Click here: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1154344 The guide is for the US Mk4 VR6, but the procedure is perfectly valid for a mk3 VR - all the important bits are the same.

Uprated Engine Mounts - Easy DIY job?

Anyone had problems with their 6 branch manifold?
antera309 replied to vr6madforit's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
I've just bought one of the Raceland 6-branch manifolds off eBay. The build quality looks fine, but (from asking around on VWVortex and other sites) it seems there are a few things to be aware of when fitting any 6-branch manifold to a VR: 1) Uprated engine mounts are ESSENTIAL. Most breakages have ocurred as a result of excessive engine movement on tired old stock mounts, not the build quality of the manifolds themselves. 2) The manifold should be covered in heat wrap to avoid radiated heat transferring to the inlet tract above. The stock manifold uses a metal heat shield to stop this from ha -
A heat gun on a LOW setting is great for returning ABS plastics to their original colour.

Would anyone be interested in one of these? :)
antera309 replied to Ultimatetune's topic in General Chat
Would definitely be interested, as long as the setup was reversible when I come to sell the car (just as s/c kits are) -
Following on from this thread: http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?80762.0 Who are the best people to go to for a policy that will cover the replacement cost of aftermarket modifications, as well as the value of the car itself, if you are a victim of an aggravated theft?

Your concerns are quite valid. With the new DVLA regulations, ringing cars has become very difficult, so parts is where it's at right now for the car thief fraternity, especially with the rise of fleabay. A supercharger kit is an easy
