  1. I can thoroughly recommend the Milltek Twinjet system. A nice, unobtrusive noise, not too loud. It fits the standard bumper aperture perfectly too.
  2. It's also worth checking the condition of the wires inside the rubber sleeves that go between the body and the doors. They quite often lose their isulation and break. Be sure to check the wires for ALL doors, not just the one with the malfunctioning window.
  3. Haven't seen that pattern on Mk3 recaros before. Nice one! Custom leather retrims on Recaro seats look awesome, but it's not a cheap job! Bu sure to post some pics up when you've got them fitted!
  4. My brother bought one at E38. It was a brand new one too, complete with original VW/Votec packaging. It looks the DBs. I reckon he'd be willing to sell it for the right price. PM me an offer if interested. They cost
  5. I must admit, it was kinda good watching people sweating away in the midday sun polishing their cars while I sat back with a nice cold beer.... My enjoyment was cut shorth though when my bro bought a set of 18" rims and needed my help fitting them...... !grr
  6. Install looks neat & tidy. Did you use a VF-Engineering kit or the C2 one?
  7. 1. go to his house 2. aim brick at window 3. throw <> 4. run
  8. They just get rusted in. Getting them out is a matter of brute force. Slide hammer works well.
  9. The front ones are great fun to get out. When I did mine, it took 2 hours, mole grips, several big screwdrivers and a slide hammer and finally came out in about 50 pieces...
  10. Tear his arms and legs off twice then. I hate sad pathetic desperados like that.
  11. 000283 is the Left-hand front ABS Sensor. Available from GSF https://secure.gsfcarparts.com/shop/ Part number is 64810
  12. Bleeding is not necessary, just pour a 50/50 mix of G12 coolant & distilled (de-ionised) water into the fluid reservoir until the level stops going down. Then start the engine and add more until the level stops going down again.
  13. The Result looks well worth the effort - Those wheels look the absolute 'nads!!!
  14. I've felt the same way about my engine on several occasions. An endless round of funny noises and leaks. Yet I did over 50,000 trouble-free miles in my last car (a 5-door Golf VR6) which had an identical engine, so I KNOW VR6s are reliable. The problems with my engine all turned out to be minor, and I'm sure yours will too. If you've replaced the plugs & leads and one or more cylinders still isn't getting a spark, then it's probably your coil pack that needs replacing. Tthe part is readily available second-hand and easy to swap out.
  15. Don't automatically assume the worst, there are lots of things that can cause tapping/rattling noises. It could still be your tappets. What make and grade of oil are you using? If you use an oil that's too thin (e.g. 0w/40) the tappets won't hold pressure when the oil is warm and at it's thinnest. A mechanic's stethoscope will be useful (they are cheap and available from most motorist's stores). Place the stethoscope on the side of the engine (actually the cam chain cover) underneath the coil pack and see if the noise is loudest there. If it is, then it's likely to be the chains. If you're
  16. I'm sure a set of 345mm brakes from an R32 would be up to the job of stopping a s/c VR6, especially if you use the R32 rears as well. 4 (or 6) pot caliper kits are the ultimate, but are notoriously expensive (well over
  17. An N reg VR6 will have 288mm front brakes on it already. Or were you talking about the rears? !amazed 312mm front brakes from an Audi TT 225 or 345mm brakes from the R32 / TT V6 can be fitted to the Mk3, as long as you fit a spacer between the hub and the caliper carrier. Designa Dubs in Basingstoke have just done a pair of spacers for me, so they have the template for it now if you need some made up. The mounting for the stock oil heat exchnger is very similar to an oil filter mounting, so a "generic" oil cooler kit could be made to fit quite easily. The only part that would need fabricat
  18. Craggsy, my brother's VR had almost identical damage when he went into the back of someone a couple of months ago. After threatening to write the car off, his insurance co. agreed to repair it and it looks good as new now. Pete, how much have you been quoted for the respray, if you don't mind me asking? I couldn't get a quote any better than
  19. Nah, my VR would end up on barryboys.co.uk !!!! LOL
  20. Well, if it makes you feel any better, mine's not gonna be ready for E38 either: &| Goes into the bodyshop next Monday
  21. They do have a 3.6 litre VR engine now - it's fitted to the flagship Passat model in the US. It produces 280BHP. This engine could be fitted to the Golf in the future. They also have a 300BHP+ turbo'd version of the 3.2 VR6 in development for the new Audi S3. Golf RS32 anyone?
  22. The rear seats on three door and five door Mk3s are exactly the same.
