  1. True say, the R32 is just a bit too pricey at the moment. As soon as the prices start going below 12k, it will be a different matter. Mk4 GTI Anniversaries are good value right now, but they just don't have that gorgeous R32 sound!! The only thing that lets the mk3 VR6 down really is the wallowy standard suspension. Sure you can fit aftermarket suspension, but this wrecks the ride quality.. I can't argue that VR6s are good value for money though.
  2. That vid is oooooooollllllllld, man. Funny though!
  3. As Riggs VR6 says, stick a 405 MI16 engine(1.9 16V) and a 205 1.9GTi gearbox in there. Uprate the suspension & brakes, strip out the interior, roll cage it and voila - one serious track day toy!
  4. Not to mention the extra refinement & ride comfort. I test drove a Mk4 R32 last month, and after driving that, my VR cabby felt about as smooth & refined as a 1950s London bus. I know the mk4 is heavier, but it certainly didn't feel it. I love my mk3s, but you can't deny progress.
  5. No. 3 is Aeroflot, the huge Russian airline that broke up.
  6. Easy job, 4x 5mm allen bolts. The cylinder numbers are marked on the coilpack. As you look at the engine, the cylinders go: 135 246
  7. Ahh, that brings back memories.... Got any pics of the new lump you're putting in?
  8. it was to find the best handling car and he was right stock vr suspension is a joke Yeah, it was only the standard suspension that let it down.
  9. First pic of my car in a mag! superb!! The winning UK Mk4s stand was right near ours. Went over and had a chat with them while I was there and talked R32s :-) . Good bunch of lads.
  10. You can get an OBD1 to OBD2 throttle body adapter that will allow you to fit a Corrado manifold, but even then you will need to get the superfluous hole in the manifold welded up (the one for the ISV). In the end, the power gain will be poor compared to the amount of money expended. Save up for a Schrick manifold instead!
  11. Is there any misfiring? Have you have your fault codes read?
  12. It's worth a try because it has to be replaced when the chains are done anyway, and all parts are purchased individually for this job. There is no "kit" available from VW or indeed anyone else. Be sure to follow the proper procedure for fitting, though, and if the noises persist, get the chain and remaining tensioner parts changed as soon as possible!
  13. An employer can sack you for anything they like in the first 12 months (it doesn't matter if it's 11 months, 30 days, 23 hours and 59 minutes) and the employee cannot take legal action for unfair dismissal. This is a completely different thing to the "probationary period" (usually 3 or 6 months) stated in peoples' contracts. However, I am not sure where the law stands on sacking people while signed off sick. You might want to check this with Citizen's advice. "Breach of contract" might be another route to compensation. Although contracts are usually worded very carefully to avoid this, some
  14. You need 16" or 17" wheels to fit those puppies.
  15. Yep, all sorted now, although I wasted £60 by buying a set of faulty Magnecor leads and throwing away the packaging & receipt. All together now... KNUCKLE HEAD!!!!!!
  16. Found out today what was causing the problem. The Magnecor ignition leads I bought are defective. The rubber boots on two of them have split and the HT charge was arc-ing through the splits onto the cylinder head. I put my old ignition leads back on (which are fine now that they have dried out) and the misifre was no more. In a spectacular knucklehead follow-up, I threw away the original packaging for the Magnecors, so I can't send them back to the shop. I'll have to see how I get on with Magnecor themselves. Wish me luck!!
  17. With a Schrick, you HAVE to run the ignition leads underneath the manifold, and I've never heard of ignition leads getting damaged by doing this. The only problem is having to take the manifold off to inspect or change the spark plugs.
  18. That's a fair bit of weight you've stripped there! Bet it goes like stink!!! Carbon fibre bonnet next perhaps?
  19. ibiVR, there is a large potential market for an "off the shelf" (obvoiusly less ECU work) turbo kit for the RHD VR6. If you decided to start selling such a kit, I'm sure there would be plenty of takers. Maybe even a group buy.
