  1. You could keep the lights and tint 'em all red...
  2. We'll find out soon. About 20 minutes to start-up....
  3. Supercharger is almost on!! Just a few bits and pieces left to reconnect and it will be ready to go to Stealth for mapping....
  4. Thanks for your help. Catchcan now fitted. Sorry to be a pain, but I also have this non-return valve in the kit. Once again, it is not mentioned in the instructions. Where does this bit go?
  5. How do you get VAG-COM to tell you whether your ECU is running in safe mode or not?
  6. The XBox is basically just a PC, so all the in-car specialisations that can be done with a PC can be done with an XBox. I would say you definitely want to replace the standard AC PSU for a 12v one. mp3car is a superb forum for bespoke in-car PC & gaming systems - check it out: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/
  7. Assuuming you've already checked the battery & fuses, it sounds like something may be amiss behind the fusebox. Check all the multiplugs are securely plugged in..
  8. I hope someone can help. I've just been fitting my new VF-Engineering Stage 2 charger kit (to a Golf VR6 OBD1). The charger and all pipework went on no problem, but there are just a couple of things I'm not sure about.... Firstly, does anyone know if I have to re-fit the crankcase breather valve (arrowed on the picture of the standard pipework below)? If so, where does it go? What would be the implications of running without it? Secondly, I have what looks like a swirl pot and a piece of pipe (pic below) which came with the kit, but isn't mentioned in the instructions. Does anyone know w
  9. On one hand, VR6s are all getting old now and yes, big things are starting to go wrong with them. On the other hand, there are LOADS of VR6s finding their way into breakers' yards right now, so second-hand parts are plentiful & cheap. Go to breakers wherever you can, and for anything new go to GSF.
  10. The only Golfs made in the 14 years since that can beat a VR6 are the R32 and mk5 GTi. That's not a bad record by anyone's standards. But Scooby STIs, BMW M3s, Mitsi Evos, RX7 Turbos & Skylines are in a different league of performance and always have been. They are also in a different leauge of running costs!!! LOL
  11. I've got the full VAG-COM and am located in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. I'm available most weekends.
  12. Oh well, I guess Vincy boy will be happy for the extra business.
  13. That's shocking. Did they give any reason why they don't service VR6s any more?
  14. Will you be converting the syncro to RHD? You've got all the bits there to do it!!
  15. On a standard VR, the best thing to modify first is always the suspension. Although the BHP isn't increased, getting rid of the wallowy standard setup will make the car far quicker point-to-point.
  16. I 'kin hate that advert. It's so "Corporate cool". Nasty.
  17. He's breaking it for parts, so I guess he's doing the World a favour.
  18. I'm sure the guys & girls on the UK-mkIVs forum will be able to give you some buying advice. The GTi Anniversary PD150s are the ones to go for....
  19. If anyone knows what the OBD2 wire colours are, please let me know and I will make sure they are included in the guide. The three wires used by the control box are the +12v feed, the earth wire and the tacho signal wire.
  20. Officially, all 2.8 12v VR6 engines are 174BHP. This was the figure quoted by VW throughout the Golf VR6's production run. This is pretty much spot-on for the OBD1, but OBD2 cars usually produce about 10BHP more than this when measured on the rollers. The exact reason for this is explained in superb detail in that huge supercharging thread on the-corrado .net forum, but it's basically due to tighter fuel/air mixture control by the more advanced OBD2 engine management system. The official figure for all VR6 2.9s is 190BHP, but this is again based on the OBD1 figure. I'm guessing that an othe
  21. I've had a Schrick VSR fitting guide sitting around for months that I've been meaning to upload to the Knowledge Vault premium members section. It includes full instructions for wiring up the control box. I've just put it up. http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?132209.0 enjoy!
