  1. i wouldn't mount the filter the way it is in that pick, a friend did that on his mkII and it dripped oil onto the manifolds...not good. try and mount it upright. what little tube are you on about binliner? don't think it has anything to do with oil breather. neither does the ISV.
  2. errr....I think mark knows his own car......... but yes it is obd1..........I can confirm as will olly..........ive seen many 'N' reg obd 1 vr...... early N-1995 which was 1' date='...late n was 2....................you really should reed that bently service manual more carefully next time......lol [/quote'] oi, i'm just trying to learn stuff here...and as said before it ain't always a good idea to 100% trust the bentley.
  3. I thought it was 96? so some N plate cars could be OBD1... mintys had early spec bumpers etc so its no surprise its OBD1... maybe the changeover was a bit of a gradual thing which would explain there being some exceptions to the rule... weirdest one Ive seen is an N plate highline with square side repeaters ! i was originally under the impression that it was '96...but then i read in a couple of places that its was mid '95 (at the m/n switchover). i don't always truely trust the bentley as its a US manual so there are differences to what we have over here. still, the highline with square indi
  4. should be ok, timing chains aren't as much of an issue on later cars. if you're really concerned why not get an inspection done on it, or at the very least get the fault codes checked...that shold show up any potential probs.
  5. you sure? thats throws that one out the window then...guess we'll never truely know where the switchover was then.
  6. depends on the year of the car to whether they'll be an issue...obd2's are much less prone to probs. and on obd1 its only the top blade tensioner that wears. not a bad idea to check that when you change manifolds.
  7. i think the 'rado manifold will only make a very very mild improvement, where as the schrik makes big a difference (i want one ;( )
  8. i'm not so sure...i still think thats an obd1 manifold.
  9. AAA is deffo 2.8, i think ABV is 'rado. check the engine number to see if it really is a 2.9. 'rado's were all obd1, but your car is obd2, so either they've changed all the wiring or converted the engine to obd1...post a pic of your engine bay will you so i can see, i'm curious?
  10. yep...i'd be patient and get a second hand schrik (nake sure you get the right one for your year...obd1 upto m plate, obd2 n plate on), then save up a bit more before you pop it on so you can get a remap done immediately.
  11. Gmax -40mm springs, new standard shocks (are you boge shocks not standard style?), eibach arb's.
  12. difference in motor racing is that its usually not your car! i can't afford to replace my vr6 if it gets killed.
  13. ok, just looked on etka...there are quite a few different TB's for each obd. but there's only two manifolds, obd1 is 021 133 202F, and obd2 is 021 133 202K...vento's and golfs are the same.
  14. see, that actually puts me off. i can go out on track knowing its a track day and thus non-competetive. but theres others out there who don't think the same, i don't wanna get taken out by some idiot in a saxo! also, when i've been on track for my racing the other guys have all had to pass a test, so theres a fairly high degree of competence. i'd say track days are more risky than that. i do really wanna do donnington tough.
  15. my obd1 manifold deffo has that hose going in...but i haven't studied an obd2 manifold to see if they have it as well. one thing though, the bore where the TB joins is different diameter on obd2 if i remember correvtly...so if it is the wrong one theres no way to botch it on.
  16. to take this further you coudl try lightly spraying water over the leads and coilpack at night with the engine running....may see some fireworks.
  17. or a ferrari (they do have at least one flat 6 in the range somewhere...think its a few years old though!)
  18. i'm dieing to get mine sorted and take it on track. i know what you mean about feeling slow in a closed car...makes it very easy to get caught out if you've been driving open cars (that happened to me in a clio...thaught i was doing about 20mph when all of sudden i realised i wasn't...a tad too late! lol) what suspension set up does the car have? how was it handling wise?
  19. i see your point' date=' but at least its a flat-4 so is a bit unique. [ Edited Mon Oct 04 2004, 07:16PM ']
  20. no. why would you want to shorten the gearstick LOL did you read the question at all yep, but only the first line
