  1. ok, its not possible to check that. tell us what the parts are, and what year/models you need to check against each other.
  2. its not too bad...doesn't suit a red car though.
  3. what badges does the U.S. vr6's have on the back? or better still has anyone got a pic?
  4. at least a few hundred quid i'd say, get your timing chains and runners changed whilst there, and a new clutch if yours is worn...will save cash later.
  5. i have a sound clip of chain rattle if you wanna compare, log on to MSN andadd me - acf8181@hotmail.com it sounds like one of the runners or tensioners has come apart if it happened very suddenly. if it is this then you're playing russian roulette with your engine and the chain could jump a few teeth and kill the engine any time.
  6. 1H0 501 541A - need two obviously, same for all years and all models of mkIII.

send ECP an e-mail and ask if its genuine.
  8. i'd only entrust it to a vw specialist myself. if they get them in wrong it could really mess up the car.
  9. i dunno about that, depends on the colour of the car (i'm lucky ), but they certainly look better made compared to the black ones.
  10. not sure about early vr6's, but '98's deffo came with red as standard...saw a brand new one years ago. only thing i can remember about when i looked under the bonnet...thought it was weird to have red leads.
  11. i was under the impression the last plate the did UK vr6's on was an S...but they're few and far between (like k plate mkII's).
  12. theres two pages of vr's with that kind of mielage on autotrader...at least one of them has to be perfect. (or at least you'd hope so)
  13. yep, vw black ones are too long really. i think they cost a lot less than the red ones tho, but aren't as good quality. i may be wrong tho.
  14. i jack the car up with a trolley jack on the subframe...then put the axle stands in the o.e. jacking points. i can't jack the front of my car up with the boot jack anymore on one side...had a small incident with a very large kerb at donnington (looked small on my side of the car, but wasn't on the other...went off and crunch!).
  15. just shove it in second gear and hold the drinks...you can drive 0-60mph in second gear in a vr6 cup holders are better though.
  16. red ones from vw look visibily tougher than any others i've seen.
  17. i'd get a vx220 instead of an elise...yes, they aren't as cool, but i think they look just as good, but most importantly are likely to be more reliable and will cost a lot less if they screw up. oh, they are slightly quicker as well with equal handling.
  18. the saving grace is that the chav's can't afford scooby's! lol
  19. what a surprise you said that pete
  20. i still don't get it...maybe take a few more pics with a light under the car? certainly doesn't seem like anything i've seen before.

  22. yep, i should have listened to claire! though i haven't had a prob with road noise. it also wasn't really a prob on standard/just springs...now i have the full kit it is a really firm (although, obviously some of that can be blamed on the shocks). i do however prefer the nervous handling they gave...but thats just me being quirky! theres no right and wrong with either set up...you just have to pick the right one for you.
