  1. ok, just looked on etka for you to try and get the part no's. but have a prob, it indicates that the part no should be the same as the ABF engine, which is 037 199 307, but the part looks a completely different shape to the one on my car. the one on mine looks like its 096 409 157b, which is for the auto box. anyone got a spare engine and box lying about so they can check the part no printed on the cover? the two bolts that hold it on are N010 227 6
  2. i really can't tell from that pic..too dark! what part of the beam is it attached to?
  3. bump stops are pretty mcuh unrelated (they are on the shock (inside the springs)and cusion the blow when the suspension bottoms out. the rear stops tend to wear out on mkIII's...mine were in lots of little bits. rear beam (axle) bushes are where the beam pivots is at it meets the car...they do tend to only last 120k max on mkIII's. will give a genral 'loose' feeling to the rear of the car. by harsh i mean, the powerflex bushes are quite solid so less pot holes and bump hits are cussioned. don't get me wrong, its not like putting very stiff suspension on the car but you deffo know about it. pow
  4. i'm not sure exactly, just heard that.
  5. i'd advise getting standard bushes if at all possible. i have powerflex and they are a bit harsh. however, you have to have special tools to fit the standard bushes in where as you don't for the powerflex. if you do go for the powerflex its 206's you need. best place to get them from is power engineering, they're next door to powerflex (actually, they're part of the same company) - 01895 255699
  6. cooper S's are about a second slower to 60 i think, deffo out handle a vr from what i've heard. i'd be interested to know the weight of one, i bet they way at least as much as the vr6's.
  7. depends on your budget really... upto £6k - vr6 (golf or 'rado), £6k-£8k - mkIV 1.8T, or maybe astra coupe turbo, £8k - £20k - scooby (real bargains on the bug-eyed ones at mo). ...thats just my opinion though.

    Boss kits

i got mine for free it is a late mkII one of course.
  9. don't worry about the tube, it'll make no difference to the car. you can bung the wholes up, but i'd just leave the tube on myself. originally my car had the tube, but then i got a broken stud so replaced the manifolds with ones with no tube. its actually better to have the tube, it is used if they set up the car on a rolling road.
  10. that cause he's got rid of the side repeaters

    Boss kits

will fit upto (and inc) '93 mkIII's. the boss changed when they put airbag wheels on, though i have heard you can pull a spline off to make early wheels fit (or is it the other way round?)
  12. you will be able to wobble it up and down a little bit, but should not be able to wobble it side to side at all. mine failed the MOT on it, so had to get a new top bearing put in.
  13. well, by law they have to be bright yellow, plus they have one round thing to each side, so they do look a fair bit different to cctv cams. i didn't know the above ones were there until i saw them. ones in northampton are bloody obvious though.
  14. you can see specs. (some on m6 round brummie, some north of stoke on m6, some on a43 around northampton). with mobile units, if they can see you, you can see tham each to there own, i haven't had probs yet doin it my way.
  15. god no! lol maybe its just me, i don't like having to trust technology.
  16. well, i've never had the need for one and dont see why anyone else does, thats the point i was tryin to make.
  17. ah, thats interesting... but i've never seen an original winged early mkIII without an aerial hole (unless its been modded of course), but...i had a spare wing a little while back, it was a replacement one, and it didn't have a hole.
  18. well, if you can't see that theres no cops then you shouldn't be speeding.
  19. ok, that small hose must be an obd2 only thing, as i don't have one. the bigger hose that comes out the cam cover just goes straight to the intake. i believe mark has a 'rado obd1 engine, so all he needs to do is bung up the hole in the intake and pop on the oil cooler thingy. yep, the ISV bit threw me...whats that about mark?
  20. bad earth on the rear light cluster most likely.
  21. or use your eyes (i.e. good observation) and you'll be fine.
