  1. there is an o ring on each end about £2 each from VW
  2. does it? Some of the dodgy stuff on that thread was posted by members of this forum 8-)
  3. oh and make sure you remember which way it loops around everything before you take it off
  4. not a difficult job... you just need to screw a bolt in the hole in the top of the tensioner to slacken the belt
  5. mine was a hayward & scott 2.5" straight through with a small centre box and remus back box
  6. you can use the vw centre caps but they still dont fit
  7. sorry I was talking to the dubloke ... didnt notice your name was matt as well !
  8. sounds nice Here's my old one (the exaust on my current VR is standard so not worth recording!)... http://homepage.ntlworld.com/justin.minns/j/syncroshots2/syncro.mov Once Millsy has finished turboing it it's gonna sound even better
  9. I'm putting both of mine on an mdf panel that boxes in the wheel arch on the right side of the boot... then the sub in an enclosure that fits into the right side matt got any pics of your boot?
  10. you can get 5x112 > 5x100 adaptors but as has been said it'll depend on offset and centre bore
  11. yeah they do but I flattened my wheel bearing covers with a hammer to get them to fit Only other thing you need to know (if you dont already) is that you'll need to bin the 225/45 tyres as theyre the wrong size for a mk3
  12. thats a point... stupid foreign cars!
  13. behind the expansion tank you'll see a large grommet., that's the one I used. Access is easier if you undo the 2 bolts that hold the tank in place and just push it out of the way a bit
  14. havent used them for alignment before but the price sounds about right and they race VW cup cars so I should imagine they know what they are doing . Elite in Rainham are good as well and aren't far from you

    New to VW!

I take it you're in america? Over there does the 99/2000 VR6 have the 12v or 24v engine? Over here a car of that age has the 24v which responds pretty well to exhaust & remap If you're talking 12v VR6 an OBDII car should be making 180-190ish as standard, by the time you've bought exhaust/filter/cams you're over halfway to affording a SC without gaining much more than a better sound If you want more power forced induction is the way forward so imo wait until you have the $$ for a charger you wont be sorry

    Wooden wheel.

the airbag goes in the same place... they are identical to the standard (late) leather wheel except either the top half of the wheel or the whole wheel were wood to match the highline gearknob I used to have a half wood one on my highline but sold it and got an isotta
  17. If you dont want it too noisey Id leave the cat there... on a n/a car it wont make a load of difference anyway. Neuspeed do cold air intakes as do carbonio... Im pretty sure awesome GTI sell them... not sure if they're chrome but you could always get your own one made up and polished or chromed it's just a bent bit of pipe at the end of the day
  18. you can polish one with as little as a pack of mixed grade wet n dry from halfords and a tube of autosol the key to a good finish is not rushing things imo. Those frost kits are excellent though and will give a better finish in less time
  19. standard figures are 174bhp for both... when you say 'chip' do you mean off the shelf chip or have you had it mapped since doing the mods?
  20. presuming its a mk3 golf that is
  21. there is a row of bolts (about 5 iirc) behind a strip along the top of the bumper, another 3 underneath and then 2 clips that hold it to each rear arch
  22. the syncro making 177bhp looks a bit low as well! Looks like a good day with some interesting cars... does anyone know the conversion for nm > lb/ft?
