Ok so not a huge update but collected the paint for the inlet manifold today, Decided on BMW sparkling graphite which is as close to what i was hoping for then set to work, Very happy with the result i achieved.

Last weekend i managed to get the DBW pedal secured in place and happy that its in almost the same position as the original pedal,

Got all the wiring looms in place in plugged into the fusebox, Thanks to some extra help from friends to assist this job.

Got hold of an engine crane for the weekend and then she was in, Hardest part was finding the correct bolts from the many bags of parts from VW i have purchased for the refitting of the engine.

312mm discs/pads collected from Eurocarparts to fit with the new calipers and carriers, Also got some new High tensile bolts to fit when swapping the calipers over.

So today I managed to get stuck in with fitting the rest of the interior, Front door cards all fitted with new door card clips, Next up was to remove the existing dashboard To make way for this,

As some members already are aware I had a very special interior lined up which I collected on Friday. I took the long drive up to Dunfermline to pick this cargo up which ended up in a 1200 mile round

Just to keep this alive, not many updates to speak of other than it's running superb, Attended ultimate dubs back in March and took the trip over to Dubshed in April, here's a few pics from the past

More progress today, Finished fitting the front brake setup.

312mm vs 288mm Discs

All fitted

Tried a wheel on to make sure clearance was ok

momoenginefitted2003_zpsccfdeb20.jpg

Had to get the mk5 oil filter housing and cooler mounted up which is not a simple task due to it fouling on the front engine mounting bracket, Luckily my mate Ross is also off this week and gave his help and got stuck in, Alot of trial and error and patience saw it bolted up in place perfect, Pics dont really show just how little room there is.

Then time for the manifold to be fitted, all studs removed and cleaned up first prior to installing,

Thought I would wake this thread up a little as its been a while due to work reasons and attended vw days in France so working on the mk3 took to the back burner for quite a bit.

Anyway how it stands at the moment.

Took delivery of my ecu back from storm developments

Purchased the dubpower decat pipe to compliment the six branch

Purchased the jetex stainless 2.5" system

Fitted a moroso inline coolant filler and cap

Coilovers fitted front and rear

Bosch r32 lambda sensor purchased

As I write this the car is with a local specialist having few last bits of wiring jobs doing and mot preparation so hopefully fingers crossed will be up and running this/next week and legal again, will post pics once it is ready. :)

Your MAF placement is going to cause problems.

In what way? The reading it takes or the running?

It's too close to your throttle body and will cause conflicting readings across your maf sensor

Hmm I'm unsure where to locate it then as the forge filter kit I'm running puts it in that location on a mk5. How much further away does it need to be ideally?

I'm doing the same conversion in mine at the moment pretty much at the same stage as you.

Will be bolting intake manifold up tonight and plumbing up all the coolant hoses hopefully too.

I'd be interested to know what the efficient placement of the MAF from the throttle body would be also - I had planned to keep OEM distance which would have thought be fine no?

Sure thing mate :)

So the past few days its had -

New brake pipes front to back with new fittings,

New ball joints

New track rods and ends

New drop links

Brake and clutch system filled and bled

New fuel filter

New fan switch

New fan/motor (found out original was only running on 1 speed)

Oil and filter change

New coolant, top hose replaced so sits higher than the rad with the inline filler

New temp sensor

Few last bits getting tidied up and re fitted ready for mot, will post some pics/videos at the weekend. :)

Well I had best upload some pics later today to keep this thread alive.

Car flew through its mot in August just in time to be on the road for our local show, The Cornwall vw jamboree, Had a great weekend and some nice comments about the conversion too,

That's all for the minute, updates and pics to follow.
