  1. I've just stripped/rebuilt my engine & after 150,000 miles, I've found absolutely nothing wrong with the OEM plastic crack pipe & housing.. I just bunged them in the dish washer & replaced all the seals, thermostat & temp sensor with new bits.. And hey presto!! Like new again Mk4motionVR6
  2. Yea no doubt pete.. Soon as I've got time I'll have a gander or create a new thread.. [emoji106] Mk4motionVR6
  3. I've got shit loads of part No.s for loads of other mk4 platforms. I'll have to get a link for them too.. I've also got all the part No.s required to for upgrading standard mk4 4motion front steering & suspension components to R32/TT i.e. Cast arms, drive shafts, hub carriers/hubs, bearings, ball joints, & Quickrack tie rods n ends etc... 4. Hey guys I've recently put together a full list of all the components needed to complete an overhaul of the timing chains for the MK4 24v 2.8 VR6. I've also included all part No.s & prices without VAT from TPS. Here is a link to the list in my Dropbox.. https://www.dropbox.com/s/h1grk864qknv4rn/Timing%20parts.xlsx?dl=0 Mk4motionVR6
  5. It's gonna feel like a VR6 with that ton of steel gone.. Lol Mk4motionVR6
  6. That's not a tow bar... That's a fricking reinforced steel girder!! Lol no wonder your taking it off.. Should lose a good minute off your 0-60mph haha Mk4motionVR6
  7. I've fitted AP's to quite a few golfs both FWD & AWD (4motion) 4 potters & 6 potters, all of which I've had excellent feedback, they're very good value for money & outlast they're competitors.. If your looking for a real slammed look, the only real niggle with them is.. On the VR6 mk4 4motion & R32's, they don't drop low enough unless you remove the adjuster ring on the rear, but this will leave you with no height adjustability on the rear. Also don't forget, if your going for slammed.. On the AWD you'll also need to change out your rear tie arms & upgrade the 4motion fron
  8. Just take all that shit out & get a decent catch can fitted... You'll have a much cleaner intake for it too
  9. Wow! I am thoroughly excited reading through this build thread... Fantastic stuff, looking forward to seeing/reading the rest. Hat off to you mate
  10. While the head is off, I'd check the condition of the timing chains, tensioners & guides, although you'll only be able to check the upper chain section.. If you do decide to change out chains etc, that'll be a box off job..
  11. Not necessarily mate.. A head gasket can go at anytime, sometimes it's very obvious & at other times not so... Well I hope you manage to get it sorted mate. Mk4motionVR6
  12. The word nipple was mentioned, next thing..... Mk4motionVR6
  13. That would explain the leaking expansion bottle.. The system is pressurising & leaking through the cap!! Mk4motionVR6
  14. All this talk of nipples has got me wanting to tweek my misses nips... Lol Mk4motionVR6
  15. Haha! Did you just cringe with embarrassment...
  16. Just out of curiosity.. Don't wanna sound rude but why don't you do it yourself buddy, it's not difficult to do a basic service.. If you have any way about you with practical skills, it'll save you a lot of money eventually, plus it's a good way for you to learn about what's under the hood of your car. Mk4motionVR6
  17. Sounds like you have issues in the cooling system.. The lazy starting is probably due to the coolant sensor.. This will affect cold starts.. Where is your expansion bottle leaking? You probably need to change the cap as they are calibrated to a certain psi & eventually fail, It keeps the system pressurised correctly. I'd also look at checking the thermostat.. As this will affect the circulation of coolant within the system causing it to overheat. Mk4motionVR6
  18. I realise this is a few months old now, but I'd just like to say a massive well done on your guide.. I know these cars pretty much inside out and that guide is spot on.. It's nice to see some people taking the time & effort to write up a guide to this extent in order to help others... Well done mate, good work

  20. This is quite a good site for pulling part No.. http://m.rexbo.eu/vw/golf-iii-1h1-91/2-8-vr6-17321/engine-timing-control-100003 Mk4motionVR6
  21. Snapped rear springs... Common fault. They tend to corrode & snap at the base of the spring!
  22. Guilty as charged... I've been lurking in the shadows for quite some time now, so it's time I stepped out into the light.. Ha! So here I am & here's my girl... I'm presently doing some more modifications & rebuilding the timing chains etc.. I hope to be back up n running by the summer, so maybe I can come n attend some events with you guys & get to know y'all better..
