  1. no sorry should have made myself clearer, im talking about the plug on top of the coil pack mate, cant remember what pin numbers they are on the engine loom plug
  2. sorry i havent updated for a while guys, no pictures this time im afraid, buttt hopefully im picking up the running gear before christmas, and im determined to have it fitted by then, so i can finish off all the welding inside and get the inner arches and engine bay fully etch primered, along with the inside, so that it doesnt go rusty over the winter months, after that its a case of waiting for a bit more free cash to get the cage, then the real fun begins
  3. check that you have a live and an earth to the coil pack, pins 1 and 5. and the 3 pins in the middle are the spark feeds from the ecu, check you have an earth pulse at these pins when cranking,if not, let us know and ill post an ecu pinout diagram so you can check pulse wires.
  4. as above,it all drops down as one buddy, makes it easier if you remove rear section of the exhaust too
  5. Make sure the bonnet is perfectly clean when you fit it, and remove it when it rains . It will slowly destroy paint otherwise. learnt my lesson on that!
  6. That is your water pump pulley, remove centre front engine mount and jack engine up slightly, check pulley bolts are tight, if they are then your pump is knackered. Do not leave it like this. It will cause bigger problems
  7. The easy way is to remove the tank and turn it upside down, other than that use a pump to suck it out from the hole in top of the tank where the fuel pump is .
  8. Just a quick pointer. You can match the new ecu to your existing key and immo box.
  9. castrol edge 5w30 is good . expensive though. just my 2cents
  10. caddys are good vans mate, older shape can be picked up for around 600 quid with t & t. and a newer shape for around 2k
  11. sounds like you have a wire in the wrong place, lengthening a loom will cause no ill effects providing all joints are sound, each cable goes to the right terminal, and all earths and lives are in the right place. i lengthened the loom on mine when i did the conversion, took a while but if you take it slow and double check each connection its easy double check your fuel pump is priming by sticking your head next to the fuel pump while someone flicks the ignition on, then do as stated above, check for spark .
  12. take a multimeter and measure the resistance across the terminals of one of the sensors, and use a resistor to match. another way is unplug the light from the dashboard
  13. i dont think so, as the abs ecu relies on a pulse feed when driving, when it stops detecting a pulse it throws a fault. as for when you first start the car, it will read that all sensors are there, and the light will stay off, then when you start driving it detects the pulses as above.
  14. sorry should have made myself clearer, they dont HAVE to be automatic levelling, just as long as you can adjust them, 6k with projectors will be fine and look the nuts. would be interesting to see what other mot testers say about the washer set up, im hoping it will only apply to newer cars.
  15. im pretty sure the relays are built into the abs module bud. the 2 main fuses on top of the fusebox are what control relay feeds, the 2 larger cables are main supplys. hope this helps
  16. i would check continuity from the plug under the rear seat to the abs multiplug in the engine bay, specifically check for high resitances and short to earths, it may have rubbed through the insulation near the bulkhead grommet, and there may also be water ingress to the ecu multiplug, one checked for continuity and water ingress, if all is good you will be fine to swap the known abs pump and ecu. hope this helps
  17. the legal limit for HID bulbs is 6500k. anything above, the mot man might get a bit fussy and fail it, or your local plod. depends what they are like up round you mate. also, bear in mind the law is changing on hids. for example by the end of 2012 any vehicle fitted with hids must have headlight levelling and headlight washers. hope this helps
  18. if its not leaking, then it wont be to much of a problem for now, but i would advise getting it sorted asap\!
  19. happy days . maybe i should stop over complicating things haha!
  20. thanks parky, helped alot, i was planning on using 10 swg . as this is what ive built fuel tanks from before. regards to the turbo manifold, i was also under the impression that using split pulse is better for lower rpm spool, so i will build a 6 branch pulse split manifold. updates for today finished building the engine stand pictures below sorry for the poor quality pictures, iphones are crap for unlit areas! i will take some with a proper camera tomorow, and will also start stripping the engine once ive finished refitting a honda gearbox in the morning. comments welcome
  21. hi guys, me again, been flat out this weekend working on others cars, managed to get a couple of hours on mine today, have started building my custom engine stand, probably could have brought one, but ive got all the materials laying around at home. heres a few pictures as its not finished yet basically ive made the frame to bolt to the engine, welded a mk4 rear disc and hub together, then welded the disc to the frame. the stub axle is welded to the floor stand and i will control rotation by a series of holes in the disc with a locking pin bit rough , but it will work and its free. had t
