finished conversion ,wont start ! please help
cbmotorsport replied to rsweeney's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
there could be anything from 2 wires to 15 wires depending on what the alarm is designed to immobilise. by the sounds of it , its switching the main ignition live feed to the ignition switch, and probably the red/black pin 50 to the starter motor mate. you can do with the dash in, but remove steering coloumn shrouds and lower dash from drivers side to make life easier.oh and dont cut more than one wire at once so you dont get confused hope this helps. -
Hmm. I have a feeling its those loose connectors as on the fusebox you cant get the plugs in wrong. I would take a picture of my woring but its not in the car! Shame i cant come and help. Do you have access to elsawin or a bentley manual for it?

Dude i had a look on my fusebox thats out of the car. No 2 connectors are the same so you cant get them wrong . Have you cut and joined any wires?

The ring you are talking about is a reader coil that picks up signal from the transponder chip in the key. If you swapped the chip/ key , immobiliser box and ecu the. The fault is not that. It is the aftermarket alarm causing you problems . You will need to trace wires that have been cut for the alarm and rejoin them . They will be colour coded. -

there are 3 types of people in this world. the basics. the mechanics. and the straight up lunatics. me you and several other members of this forum fall into the latter category. i do have some questions for you however, what thickness did you make your inlet from? i was thinking of going 4mm for heatsoak purposes and strength. secondly, how quickly does your turbo spool up? as im running the same size A/R but on a holset. and im debating weather to run t4 divided with a pulse manifold like yours, or build a full on 6 branch and run open port on hot side. views and opinions? -

for those wishing to run standalone, i highly recommend using www.extraefi.co.uk and speaking to phil . top bloke and really knows his stuff. complete standalone for mine including launch control and flat shift, tacho output, and a twin input knock conditioner .500 quid delivered with loom and instructions to base map your car to get it running so you can play with it moved the engine to the shed today , and ive also stripped my loom down, im running 2 main fuseboxes, one for the lights etc and one for the engine, and then a small fusebox in the boot area with relays/fuses for the 2 fuel pumps -
it wont be from a mk4 golf as they use a different setup, what it will be is a kit from somewhere like R-click. who supply a remote c/l kit and instead of a separate fob, it has a key fob with a switchblade identical to the mk4 , look inside your boot ,behind the right hand side carpet just below the light, there will probably be a little black box linked into your standard vacuum pump wiring, just unplug the loom and swap over, hey presto you have a mk4 fob and remote locking. then you need to go on te companys web site to get a blank mk3 key blade and have it cut by any locksmith etc . hope t

i had this problem, no faults but felt very hesitant at low rpm ,and sometimes when pulling from 50/60mph in 4th gear, it seemed to pull back. turned out to be the lambda sensor, also had this with my 8 valve too. can you get into live readings with vag com?

what hilla said is also a possibility. sniff test it just to be safe

vr6 private plate M18 VRG .whats it worth?
cbmotorsport replied to cbmotorsport's topic in Whats It Worth?
as promise bud. trouble is the plate is on a car with no engine or axles. so id need a decent offer on it so that i can wangle my way around getting the plate off ,as ill need to 'mot' and tax a car that technically isnt going anywhere, so would need to sell it for atleast 400 to cover costs for getting it onto retention -

Fuel Pump fuse keeps blowing
cbmotorsport replied to Ginger's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
every sensor on an engine has a live feed taken from the fuel pump relay on a vr, the fuse for the fuel pump is linked through the relay, so if any of the sensor live feed short out, it blows the fuse . -

small update. have decided im going to run a holsten hx35 turbo with 0.70 a/r. also decided to go with megasquirt 2 extra standalone management . started stripping the engine today , its down to a long block engine now so when i get it in the shed on the stand i can start pulling it apart properly ready for head work etc. have also started cleaning the rust up inside the car so that i can finish of the welding , and will then red oxide it to stop it rusting for now, once thats done i can start stripping the engine bay and front inner arches ready to be seam welded and etch primered. then all t -
sweet thats one sorted out. fuse 21 is 15 amp and feeds interior lights/boot light/central locking etc. it is connected to Conecctor L Pin 7. red/black cable . im wandering if that red and black cable with red connector (the first picture) is linked into the radio and ignition wiring, which is why your lights are staying on . check the back of the fusebox and make sure the wire colours are correct for connector L . hope this helps.
